Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
When entering the body, silver proteinate dissociates to form silver ions, which have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and astringent properties. By disrupting the replication of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of bacteria, the bacteriostatic effect of silver ions is manifested.
The main mechanism of action of the drug is that silver ions, falling on the damaged mucous membrane, precipitate proteins and form a protective film that contributes to the narrowing of blood vessels (this leads to a decrease in edema) and a decrease in the sensitivity of nerve endings, which in turn leads to inhibition inflammatory reactions.
Silver ions inhibit the growth of various bacteria. PROSTOLOR protargol is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, such as:
- wax bacillus;
- candida albicans;
- colibacillus;
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa;
- Staphylococcus aureus;
- aspergillus black;
