Release form and composition
Bronchipret comes in the form of:
- Syrup (in dark glass vials with a dosing device and a measuring glass of 50 and 100 ml);
- Drops for oral administration (in dark glass bottles with a dosing device of 50 and 100 ml).
The active ingredients of the drug are:
- Ivy leaf liquid extract;
- Thyme herb liquid extract.
The syrup contains as auxiliary components:
- Maltite syrup;
- Citric acid monohydrate;
- Potassium sorbate;
- Ethanol (7% v / v);
- Purified water.
The excipients of the drops are:
- Citric acid monohydrate;
- Sodium saccharin dihydrate;
- Ethanol (19% v / v);
- Purified water.
Pharmacological properties
Bronchipret is characterized by bronchodilator, expectorant, secretolytic and anti-inflammatory effect. Also, the drug has antispasmodic and antibacterial properties.
Pharmacodynamics
The active components of the drug provide a decrease in the viscosity of sputum and accelerate its evacuation. The flavonoids contained in the essential oils of the thyme herb and the saponins in the ivy leaves have a secretolytic and bronchospasmolytic effect, and also reduce bronchoconstriction.
Pharmacokinetics
The active ingredients of Bronchipret are absorbed into the systemic circulation at a high rate and are excreted mainly in the urine.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Bronchipret is used as an expectorant in the treatment of chronic and acute inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, which are accompanied by the formation of sputum and cough (bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, tracheitis).
Contraindications
Contraindications to the use of Bronchipret are:
- Age less than 3 months - for syrup, less than 6 years - for drops;
- Hypersensitivity to one or more components of the drug.
Bronchipret contains ethanol, therefore, it is not recommended to prescribe the drug if the patient has:
- Epilepsy;
- Brain injuries and diseases;
- Alcoholism;
- Liver disease.
Instructions for the use of Bronchipret: method and dosage
The drug should be taken orally after meals.
Bronchipret in the form of drops is prescribed:
- Children from 6 to 11 years old - 25 drops 4 times a day;
- Teenagers from 12 to 18 years old - 28 drops 4 times a day;
- Adults - 40 drops 4 times a day.
The dosage of the syrup is determined based on the patient's age or body weight.
Appointment of Bronchipret syrup for children based on age:
- from 3 months to 1 year - 10-16 drops 3 times a day;
- over 1 year old - 17 drops (+3 drops for each year of life) 3 times a day.
Appointment of syrup based on body weight:
- Children aged 3 months to 1 year - 10-16 drops 3 times a day;
- For children over 1 year old, a single dose is calculated as follows: 1 drop of syrup per 1 kg of body weight + 10 drops 3 times a day.
When applying syrup using a measuring cup:
- Adults and children over 12 years old - 5.4 ml 3 times a day;
- Children from 6 to 12 years old - 4.3 ml;
- Children from 2 to 6 years old - 3.2 ml;
- Children from 1 to 2 years old - 2.2 ml;
- Children from 3 months to 1 year old - 1.1 ml.
When taking undiluted Bronchipret syrup, it is recommended to drink it with water.
The duration of therapy is 10-14 days. On the recommendation of a doctor, treatment can be continued, or repeated courses of drug administration can be prescribed.
Side effects
The use of Bronchipret can cause allergic reactions.
Overdose
Taking the drug in high doses can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the stomach. In this case, symptomatic therapy is prescribed.

It is recommended to consult a doctor if, after 10-14 days of therapy with Bronchipret, there is no therapeutic effect, or is weak.
In view of the possible negative effect of ethanol, the drug is prescribed with caution to children.
Bronchipret can be used by patients with diabetes mellitus (a single dose of the drug contains less than 0.03 XE taken into account).

Do not use Bronchipret during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Age restrictions depend on the dosage form of the drug, it is contraindicated to use:
- syrup - for children under 3 months;
- drops - for children under 6 years old.
Drug interactions
Bronchipret should not be taken at the same time as antitussive drugs, as well as drugs that suppress the formation of phlegm, as this prevents the coughing of liquefied sputum.
The drug therapy can be combined with the use of antibacterial drugs.
