In high doses, the substance can block n-cholinergic receptors of the central nervous system and skeletal muscle tissue. Pentamin has hypotensive, arterio- and venodilatory efficacy.
Azamethonium bromide reduces the excretion of catecholamines by the adrenal glands and helps to weaken reflex pressor reactions, which may result in tachycardia, mydriasis, paresis of accommodation, expansion of the bronchi, weakening of the motility of the gastrointestinal tract and the tone of the bladder, inhibition of glandular secretion.
