Release form and composition

Dosage form - solution for intramuscular (i / m) and intravenous (i / v) administration 5%: colorless transparent liquid (1 ml or 2 ml in glass neutral ampoules, 10 ampoules in a cardboard box or in a blister strip of 5 ampoules, in a cardboard box 2 packs).

The active ingredient of Pentamine is azamethonium bromide, in 1 ml - 50 mg.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The active component of the drug Pentamine is azamethonium bromide, by blocking the n-cholinergic receptors of the sympathetic and parasympathetic autonomic ganglia, depressing the chromaffin tissue of the adrenal glands and carotid glomeruli. In high doses, the substance can block n-cholinergic receptors of the central nervous system and skeletal muscle tissue. Pentamin has hypotensive, arterio- and venodilatory efficacy.

Azamethonium bromide reduces the excretion of catecholamines by the adrenal glands and helps to weaken reflex pressor reactions, which may result in tachycardia, mydriasis, paresis of accommodation, expansion of the bronchi, weakening of the motility of the gastrointestinal tract and the tone of the bladder, inhibition of glandular secretion.

Indications for use

  • Hypertensive crisis;
  • Spasms of the intestines, biliary tract, peripheral vessels;
  • Cerebral edema;
  • Renal colic;
  • Acute attacks of bronchial asthma (for relief);

Instructions for the use of Pentamin: method and dosage

Pentamin solution is intended for intramuscular and intravenous administration.

Recommended dosage:

  • Vascular spasms and other pathologies that do not require emergency measures: i / m - 50 mg 2-3 times a day, if necessary, a single dose is increased to 75-100 mg. The maximum single dose is 150 mg, the daily dose is 450 mg of the drug;
  • Cerebral edema, hypertensive crisis, pulmonary edema: i / m - up to 100 mg or slowly i / v (under the control of blood pressure (BP)) - 10-25 mg (0.2-0.5 ml solution), diluted in 20 ml of 5% glucose solution or isotonic sodium chloride solution;
  • Controlled arterial hypotension: before the operation, 40-60 mg is injected intravenously, if necessary, an increase in the dose to 120-180 mg is indicated.
