Rinostop is a topical vasoconstrictor.
Composition and form of release
The drug is released in the form of nasal drops 0.05% or 0.1%. 1 ml of drops contains the active ingredient - xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg or 1 mg, respectively.

Pharmacological action of Rinostop
Alpha-adrenergic agonist for topical use, dekongenstant. Narrows the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, reduces hyperemia and edema of the nasal mucosa. Facilitates nasal breathing and restores the patency of the nasal passages.
According to reviews, Rinostop begins to act a few minutes after its use. The effect lasts for ten hours.
Indications for the use of Rinostop
According to the instructions, Rinostop is indicated for:
- acute allergic rhinitis;
- acute respiratory diseases accompanied by a runny nose;
- otitis media and sinusitis (in combination with other drugs).
Rinostop is also used to facilitate rhinoscopy.
Method of administration and dosage regimen
According to the instructions, Rinostop is used intranasally. As a rule, children over six years old and adults are prescribed nasal drops of 0.1%, 1-2 drops in each nasal passage three times a day.
Children from two to six years old are prescribed nasal drops 0.05%, 1-2 drops in each nasal passage twice a day.
According to reviews, Rinostop should not be used more than three times a day. Therapy should not last longer than seven days. In the case of a longer use of the drug, it is necessary to take a break for five days.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Rinostop is contraindicated for:
- severe atherosclerosis;
- hyperthyroidism;
- arterial hypertension;
- hypersensitivity to the active substance of the drug;
- glaucoma;
- tachycardia;
- surgical interventions on the meninges;
- atrophic rhinitis;
- in children under two years of age.
Rinostop should be prescribed with caution according to the instructions for diabetes mellitus.
According to reviews, Rinostop cannot be combined with tricyclic antidepressants and MAO inhibitors.
