Sinusitis is a disease in which an inflammatory process develops in the maxillary sinuses. It is manifested mainly by swelling of the nasal mucosa and impaired outflow of contents from the maxillary cavities. In the absence of adequate and timely treatment, the disease can lead to the development of complications - exacerbation of bronchial asthma, visual impairment, meningitis.

The diagnosis of the disease and the appointment of therapy are carried out by an otolaryngologist (ENT). Sinuforte with sinusitis, according to patients' reviews, is an effective remedy. Its main advantages are considered to be herbal composition, rapid development of therapeutic action and ease of use.

The mechanism of action of the drug

The drug has local decongestant, rhinosecretory stimulating and rhinosecretolytic properties. The composition of drops from Sinuforte sinusitis includes a lyophilisate of the extract and fresh juice of the roots of European cyclamen. It contains saponins that act on the trigeminal nerve receptors located in the middle nasal passage.

As a result, the contents of the maxillary sinuses liquefy, and the outflow of fluid into the nasopharynx increases significantly, clearing the sinuses. At the same time, the edema that forms during the inflammation decreases, which makes it possible to restore nasal breathing.

The drug improves blood circulation in the area of the paranasal sinuses, helping to speed up the healing process. The action of the remedy depends on the individual characteristics of the patient. The minimum period during which the secretion outflow improves is 30 minutes, the maximum is 2 hours.

Indications for use

Sinuforte is indicated for use in the following cases:

  • acute and chronic sinusitis: sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis and sphenoiditis. With purulent sinusitis, which are accompanied by symptoms of generalization of infection and / or orbital complications, the drug should be used only simultaneously with antibiotics, in cases of an uncomplicated course of the disease under the supervision of a doctor, it is possible to use Sinuforte as monotherapy;
  • rhinosinusitis, which are accompanied by exudative otitis media (as part of complex treatment);
  • the period of early postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic surgical interventions on the paranasal sinuses.

In what cases is it contraindicated to use Sinuforte?

It is not recommended to use Sinuforte sinusitis spray in the following cases:

  • paranasal sinus cysts;
  • allergic reactions (immediate and delayed type);
  • polypous rhinosinusitis;
  • rhinosinusopathy of allergic etiology;
  • arterial hypertension II – III degree;
  • age up to 5 years;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Since the effect of Sinuforte on the human body has not yet been fully studied, it is not recommended to use it to treat sinusitis in women during pregnancy and lactation. There is no data on whether the active substance crosses the placental barrier or passes into breast milk, and what consequences this can lead to.

However, there are reviews of some women who have taken Sinuforte's medicine for sinusitis during pregnancy, while the development of negative consequences was not noted.

How is Sinuforte used

The drug is available in the form of a lyophilisate for the preparation of a solution for intranasal administration from light brown to white. One bottle contains 50 mg of active substance - lyophilisate of juice and extract of fresh tubers of European cyclamen. The set includes a solvent - water for injection.

In order to prepare drops for sinusitis Sinuforte, you must:

  • unscrew the cap of the bottle with the drug and remove the stopper;
  • open the bottle with the solvent and pour the water for injection into the bottle with the drug;
  • fix the spray and shake the bottle until the contents are completely dissolved;
  • remove the protective cap from the dispenser spray and make 2 or 3 test presses.

The resulting solution can be clear or light yellow, without a pronounced odor.

When injecting the drug, the head must be kept straight. The nebulizer-dispenser is inserted into the nasal passage, and 1 press is made. Adults and children over 5 years old are given one injection per day.

The medicine for sinusitis Sinuforte is recommended to be used daily or every other day. The duration of the course of treatment is (depending on the frequency of use):

  • daily: 6-8 days
  • every other day: 12-16 days.

In order to achieve a therapeutic effect, it is necessary to complete a course of therapy. A decrease in the severity of symptoms of the disease and an improvement in the general condition, according to patients' reviews, are observed after 3-5 injections of drops.

Sinuforte after surgery begins to be used on the second day. The purpose of this treatment is to reduce swelling of the nasal mucous membranes and drainage of the sinuses. When using the drug, there is no need to flush the paranasal sinuses.

Side effects

In some cases, during the period of use of the drug, side effects may develop. According to reviews, Sinuforte with sinusitis irritates the nasal mucosa after injection. The remedy burns, stings, then a few minutes later reflex sneezing begins (the amount has a pronounced variability - from 1-2 to 20 times). It is indicated that after this there is a relief of the condition.

In some patients, the amount of saliva increased, dry nose and watery eyes appeared. In rare cases, reddening of the skin of the face and headache in the nose or forehead area, which quickly passes, are reported. Sometimes there was a change in the color of the discharge, the snot became pale pink.

If, after using Sinuforte, the swelling of the nasal mucosa increases, a rash on the skin or shortness of breath appears, treatment should be discontinued and seek medical advice.

Overdose

Overdose cases of Sinuforte have not been reported. If the recommended dose is exceeded, the therapeutic effect does not increase, while the risk of developing adverse reactions increases, such as:

  • severe burning sensation in the nasopharynx;
  • headache.

For therapy, it is necessary to take an antihistamine and rinse the nose and throat with warm water. It should be borne in mind that an overdose of Sinuforte can have a negative effect on the nervous, respiratory or cardiovascular system.

Application features

In order to prevent the development of side effects, when using Sinuforte, it is necessary to avoid contact with the eyes, as this can lead to the development of acute conjunctivitis, which requires special treatment. During the introduction of drops, you can not inhale.

If the patient has allergic rhinitis, and he needs to use antihistamines in complex treatment, then after the introduction of Sinuforte, at least 2 hours should pass.

Sinuforte for sinusitis, according to reviews, is often combined with antibiotics, nasal washes, local vasoconstrictor agents. Thanks to this, in some cases it is possible to avoid a puncture and cure the disease in a short time.

Storage conditions

The shelf life of the drug is 5 years. During this period, it must be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, protected from light.

The prepared solution should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2 to 8 ° C for no more than 15 days. According to reviews, Sinuforte with sinusitis helps faster than this period, and most often a period of up to two weeks is enough to treat mild forms of the disease.

The drug is dispensed from pharmacies without a prescription.

Advantages and disadvantages of Sinuforte according to patient reviews

According to reviews, Sinuforte with sinusitis helped many patients very quickly get rid of the symptoms of the disease - a runny nose, nasal congestion, headache. Its use helps to liquefy pus and allows you to cure inflammation without resorting to a puncture, since the contents of the sinuses are released naturally, as a result of which the swelling disappears and it becomes easier to breathe.

The active substance of the preparation is of plant origin, which makes it safe to use. Also Sinuforte is not addictive. In the chronic course of the disease, it can be used as needed.

Some patients, when using the Sinuforte remedy for sinusitis, indicate the development of side effects, most often a burning sensation in the nasal cavity. However, there are practically no reports of serious adverse reactions requiring immediate medical attention.

The main disadvantage is the high cost of the drug. But, despite this, he is in demand.

There are isolated reports of an attempt to cure an acute form of sinusitis only with the help of Sinuforte. In these cases, the drug could not provide the desired effect, since it does not show activity in relation to bacteria, which are the cause of the development of a purulent form of the disease. Such patients are shown complex treatment with antibiotics.

It must be remembered that sinusitis is a serious disease that can lead to the development of complications, therefore, before starting treatment, it is necessary to seek advice from an ENT specialist.
