Release form and composition
Antigrippin is available in the following forms:
- Powder for oral solution with honey-lemon or chamomile flavor (5 g sachets);
- Effervescent tablets without taste or with grapefruit or raspberry flavor;
- Effervescent tablets for children, fruit flavor.
1 sachet contains: 500 mg of paracetamol, 200 mg of ascorbic acid, 10 mg of chlorphenamine maleate;
1 effervescent tablet contains: 500 mg of paracetamol, 200 mg of ascorbic acid, 10 mg of chlorphenamine maleate;
1 effervescent tablet for children contains: 250 mg of paracetamol, 50 mg of ascorbic acid, 3 mg of chlorphenamine maleate.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Antigrippin is a combined drug, the action of which is due to the properties of its active components:
- ascorbic acid (vitamin C) - takes part in regulating the course of redox reactions and processes of carbohydrate metabolism, enhances the body's resistance;
- paracetamol - exhibits analgesic and antipyretic effects, relieves headaches and other types of pain, and also provides a decrease in elevated body temperature;
- chlorphenamine maleate - belongs to the blockers of H 1 -histamine receptors, has an anti-allergic effect; reducing nasal congestion, relieves nasal breathing, helps to reduce sneezing, reduces lacrimation, inflammation and itching of the eyes.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Antigrippin is prescribed for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases (ARVI, influenza), which accompany:
- Chills;
- Nasal congestion;
- Fever
- Joint and muscle pain;
- Headache;
- Sore throat and sinuses.
Contraindications
- Erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, occurring in the acute phase;
- Closed-angle glaucoma;
- Severe renal and / or hepatic impairment;
- Hypersensitivity to ascorbic acid, paracetamol, chlorphenamine or other components of the drug.
Antigrippin powder for solution and effervescent tablets for adults should also not be taken for the following conditions / diseases:
- Alcoholism;
- Phenylketonuria;
- Hyperplasia of the prostate;
- Children under 15 years of age;
- Pregnancy and lactation.
Effervescent tablets Antigrippin for children are not prescribed to patients under 3 years of age.
Carefully:
- Renal and / or hepatic impairment;
- Congenital hyperbilirubinemia (Gilbert, Rotor and Dubin-Johnson syndrome);
- Deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- Viral hepatitis.
Effervescent tablets for adults and powdered solution should be taken with caution:
- Alcoholic hepatitis;
- Elderly age;
- Hyperoxalaturia (for flavored tablets).
Also, caution is required when taking Antigrippin against the background of progressive malignant diseases (for tasteful tablets).
Instructions for the use of Antigrippin: method and dosage
The drug is taken orally. Antigrippin powder or tablets are dissolved in 200 ml of warm water immediately before taking.
Adults and children over 15 years of age are shown taking 1 sachet of powder or 1 effervescent tablet, with or without taste, 2-3 times a day. Maximum - 3 sachets or 3 tablets per day.
For children, use the children's form of the medication:
- 3-5 years - 1/2 tablet 2 times a day;
- 5-10 years old - 1 tablet 2 times a day;
- 10-15 years old - 1 tablet up to 3 times a day.
The interval between doses of the drug should be at least 4 hours, and against the background of impaired renal or liver function - at least 8 hours. The duration of taking Antigrippin without a doctor's prescription is:
- Up to 5 days - as an anesthetic;
- Up to 3 days - as an antipyretic agent.
Side effects
In most cases, when using Antigrippin in the recommended dosages, side effects do not develop. In isolated cases, there may be:
- Feeling tired, headache (central nervous system);
- Epigastric pain, nausea (digestive system);
- Hypoglycemia (endocrine system);
- Anemia, hemolytic anemia (hematopoietic organs);
- Skin rash, hives, itching, Quincke's edema (allergic reactions);
- Urinary retention, metabolic disorders, hypervitaminosis, dry mouth, feeling of heat, paresis of accommodation, drowsiness (others).
Overdose
Symptoms of Antigrippin overdose are caused by the effects of the active substances that make up it. Acute paracetamol intoxication can develop within 6-14 hours after ingestion. The negative symptoms associated with the use of an excessive dose of this drug appear 2-4 days after the excess dose of the drug. Symptoms of acute paracetamol overdose include: nausea, decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and / or abdominal discomfort, increased sweating.
Symptoms of chlorphenamine maleate intoxication can be: sleep disturbances, agitation, dizziness, depression, convulsions.
Treatment for this condition is prescribed symptomatic.

Before taking Antigrippin with metoclopramide, domperidone or cholestyramine at the same time, you should consult your doctor.
The likelihood of impaired liver and kidney function increases with prolonged use in doses exceeding the recommended ones.
Antigrippin should not be taken at the same time as alcoholic beverages.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Effervescent tablets for adults and powder for oral solution are contraindicated for use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Pediatric use
Effervescent tablets Antigrippin for children are contraindicated in patients under 3 years of age, effervescent tablets for adults and oral solution prepared from powder are contraindicated in patients under 15 years of age.
With impaired renal function
In the presence of a severe degree of renal failure, taking Antigrippin is contraindicated, with a mild to moderate degree - it is recommended to take it with caution.
For violations of liver function
The use of Antigrippin is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment; with milder liver dysfunctions, the drug should be used with caution.
Use in the elderly
Elderly patients need to take Antigrippin with extreme caution.
Drug interactions
Possible drug interactions of ascorbic acid with other substances / drugs:
- benzylpenicillin, tetracyclines: helps to increase their concentration in the blood;
- iron preparations: improves their absorption in the intestine by converting ferric iron to bivalent; is able to increase the excretion of iron while used with deferoxamine;
- salicylates, short-acting sulfonamides: increases the likelihood of crystalluria by inhibiting the excretion of acids by the kidneys;
- drugs with an alkaline reaction, including alkaloids: accelerates their excretion;
- oral contraceptives: reduces their concentration in the blood;
- ethanol: increases its overall clearance;
- isoprenaline: reduces its chronotropic effect;
- anticoagulants: it is possible to increase / decrease their effectiveness;
- antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics) phenothiazine derivatives: reduces their therapeutic effect;
- amphetamine, tricyclic antidepressants: reduces their tubular reabsorption;
- barbiturates: enhance the excretion of ascorbic acid by the kidneys.
Possible drug interactions of chlorphenamine maleate with other substances / drugs:
- sleeping pills: enhances their effect;
- antiparkinsonian drugs, antidepressants, antipsychotics (phenothiazine derivatives): the risk of side effects increases - urinary retention, dry mouth, constipation;
- glucocorticosteroids: the use with chlorphenamine maleate increases the risk of developing glaucoma;
- ethanol: Aggravates the sedative effect of chlorphenamine maleate.
Possible drug interactions of paracetamol with other substances / drugs:
- rifampicin, phenytoin, barbiturates, phenylbutazone, ethanol, tricyclic antidepressants, other inducers of microsomal oxidation in the liver: the production of hydroxylated active metabolites increases, as a result of which, with small overdoses, severe intoxications may develop; the use of ethanol together with paracetamol promotes the development of acute pancreatitis;
- cimetidine and other inhibitors of microsomal oxidation: reduce the risk of hepatotoxic effects;
- diflunisal: increases the concentration of paracetamol in blood plasma by 50%, increasing its hepatotoxicity;
- barbiturates: reduce the effectiveness of paracetamol;
- uricosuric drugs: paracetamol inhibits their effect.
