Release form and composition

Dosage form of Pyrazidol - tablets: flat-cylindrical, from white to almost white with a greenish or light yellow tint, dosage 25 mg - with a chamfer, dosage 50 mg - with a chamfer and a score (10 pcs. In a contoured cell package, 1, 2 or 5 packs in a cardboard box; 50 tablets each in polymer cans, 1 can in a cardboard box).

The composition of 1 tablet includes:

  • Active ingredient: pirlindole hydrochloride - 25 or 50 mg;
  • Auxiliary components: milk sugar (lactose monohydrate), calcium stearate, potato starch, primellose (croscarmellose sodium).

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The antidepressant effect of Pyrazidol is provided by a combination of thymoleptic effect and a balanced effect on the central nervous system (CNS) of the active substance of the drug - pirlindole. The activating effect on patients with anergic, apathetic depression is combined with a sedative effect on patients in a state of agitation.

Pirindol: inhibits type A monoamine oxidase (MAO) selectively, transiently and reversibly; blocks the deamination of norepinephrine and serotonin to a high degree, tyramine to a lesser extent; partially inhibits the reuptake of monoamines; activates the processes of neurotransmission of nervous excitement in the central nervous system; has a nootropic effect, improving cognitive functions. The drug has no anticholinergic effect.

Indications for use

  • Bipolar affective disorder (manic-depressive psychosis), schizophrenia;
  • Depression of various origins, mainly with asthenic disorders and psychomotor retardation, with anxiety-depressive and / or anxious-delusional symptoms;
  • Involutionary depression, which occurs at the age of 50-65, characterized by an extreme degree of fussiness and nervousness;
  • Alcohol withdrawal;
  • Alzheimer's disease (as part of combination therapy).

Contraindications

  • Diseases of the hematopoietic system;
  • Acute hepatitis;
  • Simultaneous reception with monoamine oxidase inhibitors;
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Instructions for the use of Pyrazidol: method and dosage

Pyrazidol tablets are taken orally.

Recommended dosage regimen: the daily dose of 50-75 mg, divided into 2 doses, is gradually increased by 25-50 mg daily to 150-300 mg per day. Upon reaching the required therapeutic effect, the therapy is continued with the dose selected individually for 2-4 weeks, then the dose is gradually reduced.
