Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets: flat-cylindrical, almost white or white, with a chamfer and a risk (10 pcs. In blister / non-junction packs, in a cardboard box 1 package; for hospitals - in a cardboard box, 200 blister-free contour packs).
Composition of 1 tablet:
- active substance: piperazine adipate (piperazine adipate) - 0.5 g;
- additional components: sodium carboxymethyl starch (sodium starch glycolate), calcium stearate, talc, corn starch.

Piperazine adipate is an anthelmintic agent that has a paralyzing effect on nematodes. The mechanism of its action is due to the ability to cause muscle paralysis and disrupt the function of the neuromuscular system of nematodes.
The drug is most effective for enterobiasis and ascariasis.

Piperazine adipate is a low-toxic agent. The drug does not destroy worms, therefore there is no danger of absorption of toxic products of their decay.
The effectiveness of deworming is 90–95%, with repeated use it can reach 100%.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Piperazine adipate is used for enterobiasis and ascariasis (infestations by pinworms and roundworms, respectively).
Contraindications
- chronic renal failure;
- organic diseases of the central nervous system;
- children under 3 years old;
- hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Piperazine adipate: method and dosage
The drug is indicated for oral administration. The tablets should be taken 2 times a day 60 minutes before meals or 30-60 minutes after meals. With ascariasis, it is possible to prescribe an alternative one-day therapy regimen: 0.4-4 g once or 0.2-2 g 2 times a day. The exact dose is determined by the doctor depending on the age of the patient.
Recommended single doses:
- adults and adolescents from 15 years old - 1.5-2 g;
- children 13-15 years old - 1.5 g;
- children 9-12 years old - 1 g;
- children 6-8 years old - 0.75 g;
- children 4-5 years old - 0.5 g;
- children 3-4 years old - 0.3 g
With ascariasis, the course of treatment is 2 days.
With enterobiasis, the duration of treatment is 5 days. In total, 1–3 courses are carried out at intervals of 7 days.
To remove pinworms from the rectum between courses of treatment, enemas should be put at night from 1-3 glasses of solution: ½ teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) per 1 glass of water.
Side effects
During treatment, headaches, nausea and abdominal pain of a spastic nature are possible.
Patients with renal failure are at risk of developing neurotoxic complications, such as blurred vision, hallucinations, euphoria, tremors, muscle weakness, and impaired coordination of movements.
Overdose
An overdose of piperazine adipate may present with muscle weakness and tremors.
