Pinosol is a local herbal preparation with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial action, used in ENT practice.

Release form and composition

Dosage forms of Pinosol release:

  • Nasal drops: transparent, from green-blue to blue, have a menthol-eucalyptus smell (10 ml in brown glass bottles with a lid and a rubber pipette, 1 bottle in a cardboard box);
  • Nasal spray: clear, colorless or slightly yellowish oily liquid, has a specific odor (10 ml in dark glass bottles, 1 bottle in a cardboard box, complete with an adapter for nasal injection and a dosing pump);
  • Nasal cream: white, homogeneous, smells of essential oils (10 g each in aluminum tubes, 1 tube each in a cardboard box);
  • Nasal ointment: transparent, white, smells of essential oils (10 g in aluminum tubes, 1 tube in a cardboard box).

Each pack also contains instructions for using Pinosol.

Active ingredients in 1000 mg drops:

  • Eucalyptus oil - 5 mg;
  • Scotch pine oil - 37.52 mg;
  • Α-tocopherol acetate - 17 mg;

  • Peppermint oil 10 mg

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Pinosol is a herbal decongestant. It has a decongestant and anti-inflammatory effect, helps to reduce the viscosity of the secretion of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.

Shows antibacterial activity against some strains of gram-positive / gram-negative bacteria (Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus luteus, Escherichia coli), and also has antifungal properties and Aspergia fungi, yeast fungus …

Indications for use

  • Rhinitis of non-allergic etiology in acute and chronic course (drops, spray);
  • Rhinopharyngitis (spray);
  • Inflammatory diseases of the mucous membranes of the nose and nasopharynx, accompanied by dryness of the mucous membranes of the nose in acute and chronic course;
  • Conditions after surgical intervention in the nasal cavity (drops, ointment, cream; outpatient and inpatient conditions).

Contraindications

  • Allergic rhinitis;
  • Age up to 2 years (drops, ointment, cream) or 3 years (spray);
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Pinosol, instructions for use: method and dosage

Drops

Recommended dosage regimen:

  • Adults: the first day - 1-2 drops in each nasal passage with a break of 1-2 hours, on the following days the frequency of application is reduced to 3-4 times a day;
  • Children: 3-4 times a day, 1-2 drops (use of a cotton swab is allowed).

Pinosol drops can be used as inhalations (50 drops (2 ml) are instilled into the inhaler), the frequency of application is 2-3 times a day.

The duration of the treatment course is 5-7 days.

Spray

Spray Pinosol should be injected 3-6 times a day (depending on the severity of the inflammatory process) in each nasal passage, 1 dose.

Before use, remove the protective cap from the dosing pump, then inject the drug by lightly pressing with your fingers, then close the dosing pump with the safety cap.

Before starting to use, after removing the protective cap of the metering pump, you must make 2 test injections (not into the nose).

The duration of the treatment course is 10 days. On the recommendation of a specialist, correction of the course duration is possible.

Cream and ointment

Pinosol cream or ointment should be applied to the surface of the mucous membrane of the anterior nasal cavity of each nostril (the length of the column is approximately 5 mm). For the introduction, you can use a cotton swab. After administration, the drug is rubbed over the mucous membrane with moderate pressure on the wings of the nose.

Frequency rate of application - 3-4 times a day.

Course duration: cream - 5-7 days, ointment - 7-14 days.

On the recommendation of a doctor, correction of the drug use regimen is possible.

Side effects

Possible side reactions: itching, swelling and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, burning sensation, allergic reactions.
