Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of Pancreatin-LekT is pancreatin - a substance that compensates for the insufficiency of the exocrine function of the pancreas, providing lipolytic, amylolytic and proteolytic effects.
The enzymes included in the preparation (alpha-amylase, chymotrypsin, trypsin, lipase) promote the breakdown of fats to fatty acids and glycerol, proteins to amino acids, starch to monosaccharides and dextrins.
Trypsin suppresses the stimulated secretion of the pancreas, due to which it has an analgesic effect.
Pancreatin normalizes digestion processes, improves the functional state of the digestive system.
As part of the Pancreatin-LekT preparation, enzymes are protected by a membrane from the action of gastric juice, therefore they are released in the alkaline medium of the small intestine.
The maximum enzymatic activity after taking the drug inside is noted after 30-45 minutes.
Indications for use
- violation of food assimilation (conditions after resection of the small intestine or stomach);
- inaccuracies in nutrition (irregular eating, eating a large amount of food or fatty foods), prolonged immobilization or a sedentary lifestyle, impaired chewing function - to improve food digestion in people with normal gastrointestinal tract function;
- exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (for replacement therapy): flatulence, dyspepsia, diarrhea of non-infectious origin, pancreatectomy, cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, Remheld syndrome (gastrocardial syndrome), condition after irradiation;
- preparing the patient for an ultrasound or X-ray examination of the abdominal organs.
Contraindications
- children under 3 years old;
- exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis;
- acute pancreatitis;
- increased sensitivity to the drug.
Instructions for the use of Pancreatin-LekT: method and dosage
Pancreatin-LekT should be taken orally, during or immediately after a meal, swallowing the tablets whole.
Adults are prescribed 1-3 tablets 3-4 times a day.
The attending physician selects the dose for children.
The duration of therapy is individual, it can range from several days (if there are disturbances in the digestive processes due to inaccuracies in nutrition) to several months and even years (during replacement therapy).
Side effects
Pancreatin-LECT may cause allergic reactions. There are isolated cases of a feeling of discomfort in the stomach, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, however, the causal relationship of their development with the action of the drug has not been reliably established, since these phenomena can also be signs of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
With prolonged use of the drug in high doses, there is a possibility of an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood plasma and the development of hyperuricosuria. In children, when taking high doses of pancreatin, irritation of the oral mucosa and perianal irritation may occur, in patients with cystic fibrosis - strictures in the ascending colon and ileocecal region.
Overdose
In case of an overdose of pancreatin, hyperuricemia / hyperuricosuria is possible, in children - constipation. In this case, the drug is canceled and symptomatic therapy is performed.
special instructions
If long-term treatment is necessary, it is worth taking iron supplements at the same time.
Patients with cystic fibrosis are not recommended to take Pancreatin-LekT in high doses because of the risk of developing fibrous colonopathy (strictures). The dose must be calculated in such a way that it is adequate for the amount of enzymes required for fat absorption. In this case, the quality and quantity of food consumed must be taken into account.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
Pancreatin-LekT has no effect on the ability to concentrate and the speed of psychomotor reactions.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The experience of using pancreatin during pregnancy is not enough to assess the extent of its effect. In the course of experimental studies, it was found that pancreatin does not have teratogenic properties. In this regard, the appointment of Pancreatin-LekT is possible if the intended benefit outweighs the potential risks.
Pediatric use
According to the instructions, Pancreatin-LekT can be used to treat children over 3 years old. It should be borne in mind that with a high activity of lipase contained in pancreatin, children have an increased risk of constipation.
Drug interactions
The activity of pancreatin can be reduced by antacids containing magnesium hydroxide and / or calcium carbonate.
Pancreatin can reduce the absorption of iron preparations.
