Ivadal is a fast-acting synthetic sleeping pill that improves sleep quality and duration.
pharmachologic effect
The active ingredient of Ivadal is zolpidem hemitartrate. It has a sedative, as well as slightly pronounced anticonvulsant, anxiolytic and central muscle relaxant effect. The drug reduces the number of night awakenings and the latent phase of sleep, speeds up the time to fall asleep, increases the duration of sleep and improves its quality.
Ivadal acts quickly, the peak concentration in some cases occurs in half an hour, is not addictive and does not have a sedative effect during the day.
Release form
Iwadal is available as a white oblong film-coated tablet. Each tablet contains 10 mg zolpidem tartrate. Indications for use of Ivadal
According to the instructions, Ivadal is used for prolonged or situational sleep disorders:
- Insomnia;
- Night and early awakenings;
- Difficulty falling asleep.
Before using Ivadal, you should establish the cause of the sleep disorder. If there is no improvement within two weeks, this indicates a mental cause of the illness or depression, and the drug should be canceled.
It should be borne in mind that the use of Iwadal must be able to sleep continuously for at least 7 hours.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Ivadal is contraindicated for:
- Sleep apnea syndrome;
- Severe acute or chronic liver failure due to the risk of encephalopathy;
- Acute or severe respiratory distress;
- Congenital galactosemia, glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome, as well as lactase deficiency;
- In the first trimester of pregnancy and lactation;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Due to the lack of clinical data, Ivadal is not prescribed for children under 18 years of age.
According to the instructions, Ivadal is used with caution when:
- Respiratory failure;
- Severe pseudoparalytic myasthenia gravis;
- Impaired liver or kidney function;
- Depression;
- Chronic alcoholism;
- A history of drug dependence;
- Drug addiction and other types of addiction.
Instructions for the use of Ivadal
Ivadal is taken immediately before bedtime for adults up to 65 years old - 10 mg, over - 5 mg. You should always start with the minimum dose, the maximum dose should not be increased by more than 2 times.
For situational insomnia, the drug is used for 2-3 weeks, but not more than a month.
Iwadal is canceled gradually to reduce the possibility of developing rebound insomnia.
With transient insomnia, the recommended duration of admission is 2-5 days; gradual withdrawal of the drug is not required.
After taking the course of Ivadal, according to reviews, there may be a slight decrease in sleeping pills and sedatives and effects.
Side effects
Side effects when using the drug depend on the individual reaction and the dose taken.
According to reviews, the most common side effects when using Iwadal include:

- Imbalance;

Angioneurotic edema, itching, impaired libido, rash, urticaria, the development of addiction, diplopia are extremely rare.
Side effects when using Iwadal, according to reviews, are most often observed in older people.
Ivadal is contraindicated for use in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the third trimester, the drug can be used, but in minimal doses, due to a possible decrease in blood pressure and respiratory distress syndrome in newborns.
During breastfeeding, the use of the drug is not recommended, although the concentration of the drug in breast milk is low.
An overdose of Ivadal is highly undesirable due to the possibility of developing a coma state.
Other symptoms of overdose are drowsiness, depression of the central nervous system and respiration, hypotension and ataxia.
With the simultaneous use of Ivadal with antitussive drugs, opioid analgesics, barbiturates, antidepressants, sedatives and antihistamines, benzodiazepines, neuroleptics, clonidine, ethanol, symptoms of depression of the respiratory center and the central nervous system may develop. When used simultaneously with clozapine, collapse, circulatory or respiratory arrest may develop.
According to the instructions, Ivadal is incompatible with alcohol.

Ivadal belongs to List B drugs. Shelf life is 4 years.
