Altan is a complex preparation made from active substances of sticky sulfur alder seeds from the birch family.

Pharmacological action of Altana

The complex includes tannins, polysaccharides, organic acids, polyphenolic compounds, flavonoids.

Hydrolyzed tannins have an antimicrobial effect, flavonoids act as antioxidants, perform a reparative function, stimulate protein production, improve local blood supply, and provide Altan's anti-inflammatory function. The arachidonic acid included in the composition reduces the synthesis of inflammatory mediators.

Altan is able to remove the intensity of intestinal fermentation processes, which makes it effective in chronic, acute enteritis, colitis. Also, the drug acts as an astringent.

It is known that Altana tablets do not affect gastric secretion. The pharmacokinetics of the drug has not yet been studied.

Release form

Altan is released in tablets and in the form of an ointment 2%.

Indications for Altan's use

Altan is prescribed according to the instructions for the following diseases:

duodenitis;
dysentery;
gastritis (with any pathologies of the gastric acidification function);
intestinal dysbiosis;
colitis;
enterocolitis;
dyspepsia of a non-ulcer character;
with peptic ulcer diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (Altan participates in complex therapy);
post-surgical infections and wounds (altana ointment 2%)

Altan instructions for use

According to the instructions, Altan is taken 15-20 m before a meal. Children 9-16 years old. take 1 tablet of Altana 2 rubles / day. Adults - two to three rubles / day, also 1 tablet.

When Altan is used in combination with NSAIDs, its anti-inflammatory effect is enhanced.

Contraindications

Do not use the drug if you have individual intolerance to the constituents of the drug. Sometimes it is prescribed to pregnant women, but the safety of their use of the drug has not been studied (as well as the use of Altan by children under the age of 9 years).

According to the instructions, Altan cannot be used simultaneously with drugs that contain bismuth, aluminum, magnesium hydroxide, iron, as well as other drugs containing metal ions. Due to the polyphenol contained in Altan tablets and forming complexes with metal salts, the pharmacological activity of the drug is lost.

Side effects

Allergic manifestations after the use of Altan, arising from prolonged use of the drug and its individual intolerance.
