Unigamma is a multivitamin remedy that affects the state and function of the nervous tissue.

Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of film-coated tablets: biconvex, round, from almost white to white (30 or 60 pieces each in a white polyethylene bottle with a screw cap made of the same material, equipped with a foil safety valve, in a cardboard box 1 bottle, covered with plastic wrap, 30 pcs. in a blister, in a cardboard box 1 or 2 blisters. 1 tablet contains:

  • active ingredients: pyridoxine hydrochloride in terms of pyridoxine - 100 mg; benfotiamine - 100 mg; cyanocobalamin - 0.2 mg *;
  • additional substances: microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), calcium hydrogen phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, stearic acid, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate;
  • film shell: Opadray II white (maltodextrin, hypromellose, polydextrose, titanium dioxide, medium-chain triglycerides, talc).

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Unigamma is a complex of B vitamins (B 1, B 6, B 12), which affects the function and condition of the nervous tissue. The effect of the drug is due to the properties of its active ingredients:

  • pyridoxine (vitamin B 6): a nutrient necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous system, both for its central and peripheral parts; after entering the body, pyridoxine is phosphorylated, turning into pyridoxal-5-phosphate, which is part of the enzymes involved in the decarboxylation, transamination and racemization of amino acids, as well as those responsible for the enzymatic transformation of hydroxylated and sulfur-containing amino acids; carries out the exchange of tryptophan, participating in the process of serotonin production; pyridoxine increases the rate of regenerative processes in the nervous tissue;
  • benfotiamine (fat-soluble form of thiamine - vitamin B 1): thiamine is transformed in the human body into active thiamine pyrophosphate, and then enters as a coenzyme in the alpha-ketoglutarate decarboxylase, pyruvate decarboxylase complexes, which provide oxidative decarboxylation of alpha-ketoglutaric and pyruvic acids, and transketolase (one of their enzyme pathways); benfotiamine plays an important role in the process of increasing the activity of transketolase - inhibition of this enzyme is a serious biochemical disorder in diabetes mellitus; thiamine is actively involved in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is of great importance in the transmission of impulses in vegetative fibers and ganglia; by regulating the conduction of a nerve impulse, the active substance improves neurotransmission; the effect of benfotiamine is several times greater than the effect of thiamine,as a result of its high affinity for phospholipids of cell membranes of nervous tissue;
  • cyanocobalamin (vitamin B 12): is a participant in the synthesis of proteins, nucleic acids, the exchange of amino acids, lipids and carbohydrates - important biochemical reactions in the body that ensure its vital activity; predominantly in the liver, cyanocobalamin is metabolized into 5-deoxyadenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin, the latter ensures the conversion of homocysteine to methionine and S-adenosylmethionine, participating in key metabolic reactions of purine and pyrimidine bases, and hence deoxyribonucleic and ribonucleic acids (DNA and RNA); in case of vitamin B 12 deficiencyit is capable of replacing methyltetrahydrofolic acid in this reaction, which causes disturbances in folate-demanding metabolic reactions; 5-deoxyadenosylcobalamin serves as a cofactor in an important biotransformation of lipids and carbohydrates - isomerization of L-methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA; lack of vitamin B 12 can cause disturbances in the proliferation of rapidly dividing cells of hematopoietic tissue and epithelium, and disturbances in the formation of the myelin sheath of neurons.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, absorption of pyridoxine and benfotiamine occurs in the proximal intestine. Cyanocobalamin is absorbed in the stomach and proximal intestine, which is mainly determined by the presence of glycomcoprotein - Castle's intrinsic factor (glycoprotein).

Pharmacokinetic properties of Unigamma components:

  • pyridoxine: after absorption in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), it is well distributed in the body - the highest content is detected in the heart muscle and in the liver, in which it accumulates. In the liver, the substance is oxidized to 4-pyridoxine acid, which is subsequently excreted in the urine, a maximum of 2–5 hours after absorption;
  • benfotiamine: after oral administration, it is actively absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract at a rate 5 times higher than that for conventional thiamine. The maximum concentration (C max) of benfotiamine is observed within 1 hour after administration, the bioavailability is 4-5 times higher than the bioavailability of thiamine, and according to some data it reaches 100%. The effect of the active substance at the cellular level is 5-25 times higher than that of ordinary thiamine. Biotransformation is produced in the liver, benfotiamine is excreted by the kidneys;
  • cyanocobalamin: After absorption in the small intestine, it is transported to the tissues. Excess vitamin B 12 is deposited in the liver, and then with bile it is excreted from the liver into the intestines, where it is absorbed again. Only a trace amount of cyanocobalamin is excreted from the body through the kidneys.

Indications for use

The drug Unigamma is recommended for use in the complex treatment of the following neurological diseases:

  • polyneuropathy of various etiologies, including diabetic and alcoholic;
  • neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve, neuritis of the facial nerve, retrobulbar neuritis;
  • lumboischialgia, radiculopathy, intercostal neuralgia, cervicobrachial syndrome, radicular syndrome caused by degenerative changes in the spine.

Contraindications

  • heart failure in the phase of decompensation;
  • pregnancy and lactation period;
  • children and adolescents up to 18 years old;
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the Unigamma vitamin complex.

Unigamma, instructions for use: method and dosage

Unigamma tablets are intended for oral administration. They are recommended to be taken after meals with plenty of fluids.

Dosing regimen: 1-3 times a day, 1 tablet.

The duration of treatment is determined by the attending physician; on his recommendation, repeated courses are also possible.

In high doses, drug therapy should not be carried out for more than 28 days.

Side effects
