Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Due to the active substances included in the drug (diosmin + hesperidin), Flebaven has a venotonic and angioprotective effect. Improves the parameters of venous hemodynamics, reduces venous stasis and veins distensibility, reduces capillary permeability and increases their resistance. Influences plethysmographic parameters such as venous compliance, venous capacity and venous emptying time. By reducing the time of venous emptying, the drug increases venous tone.

With a pronounced violation of microcirculation, it increases capillary resistance.

Flebaven is effective in chronic diseases of the veins of the lower extremities and in the treatment of hemorrhoids.

The optimal effect can be achieved by taking at least 2 tablets per day.

Pharmacokinetics

The combination of diosmin + hesperidin undergoes active metabolism (confirmed by the presence of phenolic acids in the urine). It is excreted mainly through the intestines, about 14% of the dose received - by the kidneys. The half-life is 11 hours.

Indications for use

Flebaven is used for the symptomatic treatment of venous lymphatic insufficiency, manifested by pain, a feeling of heaviness in the legs, and leg fatigue.

Also, the drug is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of acute hemorrhoids.

Contraindications

  • lactation period;
  • hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Instructions for the use of Flebaven: method and dosage

Flebaven is intended for oral administration, the tablets should be taken with food.

With venous lymphatic insufficiency, 2 tablets are usually prescribed per day: the first one - in the middle of the day, the second - in the evening. The duration of treatment is determined individually, the course can last up to 12 months. If the symptoms of the disease recur, the doctor may recommend a second course of therapy.

In acute hemorrhoids, the initial daily dose is 6 tablets: three in the morning and three in the evening. After 4 days, the dose is reduced to 4 tablets per day: two in the morning and two in the evening, the treatment is continued for another 3 days.

Side effects

  • from the central nervous system: rarely (from ≥ 1/10000 to <1/1000) - general malaise, headache, dizziness;
  • from the digestive system: often (from ≥ 1/100 to <1/10) - nausea, dyspepsia, diarrhea, vomiting; infrequently (from ≥ 1/1000 to <1/100) - colitis; the frequency is unknown (based on the available data, it is not possible to determine the frequency) - abdominal pain;
  • on the part of the skin: rarely - skin rash, itching, urticaria; frequency unknown - isolated edema of the eyelids, lips, face, angioedema (in exceptional cases).

Overdose

Overdose cases are unknown. If the recommended dose is significantly exceeded, you should consult a doctor.

special instructions

With an exacerbation of hemorrhoids, Flebaven is not able to replace the specific treatment of other anal disorders. The recommended duration of treatment should not be exceeded. If, after the end of the course, the symptoms do not disappear, it is necessary to contact a proctologist who will select the optimal scheme for further therapy.

In case of venous circulation disorders, in order to achieve maximum effect, it is recommended to combine Flebaven treatment with a healthy (balanced) lifestyle: reduce excess body weight, avoid prolonged standing and exposure to the sun. Walking and, in some cases, wearing special stockings can improve blood circulation.

It is recommended to consult a doctor before starting the use of Flebaven, as well as in cases where no improvement occurs during treatment or the condition worsened.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

According to the instructions, Flebaven does not affect the patient's ability to drive vehicles, work with complex mechanisms and perform activities that require speed of reactions and / or increased attention.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

In experimental studies on animals, the teratogenic effect of Phlebaven was not revealed. There were also no reports of any side effects of the drug when used during pregnancy.

It is not known whether the active substances of Flebaven are excreted in breast milk, therefore the drug is not recommended to be prescribed during lactation.
