Endothelon is a phytopreparation used in the treatment of disorders of venous circulation.
Release form and composition
The dosage form of the release is enteric-coated tablets: yellow, round, shiny, smooth, with a faint odor or odor (in a cardboard box, 2 blisters, 10 pcs. In each).
Composition of 1 tablet:
- active substance: procyanidol oligomers of cultivated grape seeds - 150 mg;
- auxiliary components: microcrystalline cellulose - 50 mg; magnesium stearate - 4 mg; colloidal silicon dioxide - 1 mg;
- enteric coating: copolymer of ethacrylate and methacrylic acid (1: 1) - 14.707 mg; triethyl citrate - 1.47 mg; sodium hydroxide - 0.22 mg; talc - 3.603 mg;
- sugar coat: gelatin - 0.139 mg; sucrose - 211.009 mg; acacia gum - 6.015 mg; dye iron oxide yellow (E172) - 0.129 mg; titanium dioxide (E171) - 35.472 mg; carnauba wax - traces.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active substances of the water-soluble extract prepared from grape seeds (Vitis vinifera) are procyanidolic oligomers. Thanks to their action, structural proteins, collagen and elastin are protected from thermal denaturation and enzymatic degradation.
Endothelon lowers capillary permeability and increases venous tone.
Pharmacokinetics
Biologically active substances of Endothelon are rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, binding occurs mainly with glycosaminoglycans, including perivascular connective tissue.
The maximum plasma concentration in the blood is reached after 90 minutes, the half-life is 72 hours.
Most (about 70%) of Endothelon and its metabolites are excreted through the intestines, about 20% - by the kidneys, 5% - by the lungs.
Indications for use
- initial (functional) manifestations of venous and lymphatic insufficiency (in the form of heaviness / pain in the legs, tired legs syndrome);
- lymphostasis of the upper extremities after radiation therapy or surgery for breast cancer - as monotherapy when the patient is unable to use physical methods of treatment, which are the first choice treatment; as an adjunct to physical treatments, especially wearing an elastic sleeve;
- complications associated with microcirculation disorders in the choroid and retina.
Contraindications
- fructose intolerance, glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome, or sucrose-isomaltose deficiency;
- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding;
- individual intolerance to any component of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Endothelon: method and dosage
According to the instructions, Endothelon is taken orally with a certain interval after a meal.
The recommended dosing regimen in lymphological and phlebological practice: 2 times a day (in the morning and in the evening), 1 tablet.
In the treatment of functional manifestations of venous / lymphatic insufficiency, the drug should be taken until a clinical effect is achieved for 20 days a month. In case of use after radiation therapy / surgery for breast cancer, Endothelon should be taken for a long time and continuously.
In ophthalmic practice, the drug is prescribed in a daily dose of 100–150 mg.
Side effects
- immune system: very rarely - allergic skin reactions, including urticaria, skin rash with or without itching, eczema, photosensitization (are reversible); in some cases - Quincke's edema;
- digestive system: very rarely - diarrhea, nausea, discomfort in the epigastric region;
- nervous system: in some cases - headache.
