Release form and composition
Dosage forms of Actovegin release:

- auxiliary components: white paraffin - 660 mg; cholesterol (cholesterol) - 1 mg; cetyl alcohol - 35 mg; methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 1.6 mg; propyl parahydroxybenzoate - 0.2 mg; purified water - 300.2 mg.
Composition of 1000 mg of Actovegin cream:
- active substance: deproteinized hemoderivat from the blood of calves - 2 mg (in terms of dry weight);
- auxiliary components: cetyl alcohol - 25 mg; macrogol 4000 - 130 mg; macrogol 400 - 760 mg; benzalkonium chloride - 0.2 mg; glyceryl monostearate - 30 mg; purified water - 52.8 mg.
Composition of 1000 mg gel Actovegin:
- active substance: deproteinized hemoderivat from the blood of calves - 8 mg (in terms of dry weight);
- auxiliary components: propylene glycol - 20 mg; methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 1.75 mg; carmellose sodium - 18 mg; propyl parahydroxybenzoate - 0.25 mg; calcium lactate - 3 mg; purified water - 949 mg.
Composition of 1 ampoule 2/5/10 ml of Actovegin injection solution:

Indications for use
Cream, ointment, gel
- wounds and inflammatory diseases of the mucous membranes and skin: burns (including sunburn), skin cuts, scratches, abrasions, cracks;
- wound surfaces before skin transplantation in the treatment of burn disease (pre-treatment);
- reactions from the skin and mucous membranes, which are caused by exposure to radiation (treatment and prevention);
- conditions after burns, including after burns with steam or boiling liquid (to improve tissue regeneration);
- bedsores (treatment and prevention);
- weeping ulcers (as initial therapy).
Solution for injection, solution for infusion
- brain disorders (vascular and metabolic), including traumatic brain injury, ischemic stroke;
- peripheral vascular disorders (venous and arterial) and their consequences, including arterial angiopathy, trophic ulcers;
- diabetic polyneuropathy;
- wound healing - ulcers of various origins, trophic disorders (bedsores), burns, impaired wound healing processes;
- radiation damage to the skin and mucous membranes during radiation therapy (treatment and prevention).

Instructions for use of Actovegin: method and dosage
Gel
Actovegin is used externally.
According to the instructions Actovegin should be applied in a thin layer to the affected area several times a day.
In order to cleanse ulcerative surfaces, the gel must be applied in a thick layer and covered with a compress with 5% Actovegin ointment or a gauze bandage soaked in ointment. The dressing should be changed once a day, in cases of treatment of very wet surfaces - several times a day. In the future, therapy is continued with Actovegin in the form of a cream or ointment.
Cream
Actovegin is used externally.
The duration of the course is at least 12 days (throughout the entire period of active regeneration).
The frequency of applying the ointment is at least 2 times a day.
Recommended application scheme:
- ulcers, wounds and inflammatory diseases of the skin and mucous membranes: apply in a thin layer; usually applied after initial gel therapy;
- prevention of radiation damage: applied in a thin layer immediately after radiation therapy and in between sessions;
- pressure sore prevention: rubbed into the skin in high-risk areas.

Ointment
Actovegin is used externally.

Injection solution
The method of administration of Actovegin is intra-arterial, intramuscular, intravenous (including in the form of infusion).
Due to the existing potential for anaphylactic reactions, it is recommended to test for hypersensitivity to the drug before starting the infusion.
Recommended application scheme:
- brain disorders: intravenous; 200–1000 mg daily for a course of 14 days, after which the patient is transferred to Actovegin's intake;
- ischemic stroke: intravenous drip; daily 800-2000 mg of solution in 0.9% sodium chloride solution or 5% dextrose solution with a volume of 200-300 ml for 7 days; then the daily dose is reduced to 400-800 mg and therapy is continued for another 14 days, after which the patient is transferred to Actovegin intake;
- peripheral vascular disorders and their consequences: intravenous or intra-arterial; 800–1000 mg daily in 0.9% sodium chloride solution or 5% dextrose solution with a volume of 200 ml for 28 days;
- diabetic polyneuropathy: intravenously; 2000 mg per day for a course of 21 days, after which the patient is transferred to receive Actovegin inside;
- treatment and prevention of radiation injuries of the skin and mucous membranes during radiation therapy: intravenously in an average daily dose of 200 mg in the intervals of radiation exposure;
- wound healing: intravenous 400 mg or intramuscularly 200 mg, depending on the healing process, the drug is administered daily or 3-4 times a week as an addition to local treatment with Actovegin in dosage forms for external use;
- radiation cystitis: transurethral 400 mg daily in combination with antibiotics; the rate of introduction of the solution is about 2 ml / min; the duration of the course is determined individually and depends on the symptoms and severity of the course of the disease.
Solution for infusion
Actovegin in this dosage form is prescribed according to the same dosage regimen as the injection solution.
Pills
Actovegin is taken orally with a small amount of liquid, without chewing, before meals.
The recommended scheme for the use of Actovegin, according to the instructions - 3 times a day, 1-2 tablets for a course of 4-6 weeks.
In the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy, Actovegin is prescribed (after a three-week course of intravenous administration of the drug) 3 times a day, 2-3 tablets for a course of 4 to 5 months.
Side effects

Actovegin is generally well tolerated.
In the presence of anamnestic data on hypersensitivity reactions, in rare cases, the development of allergic reactions is possible.
At the beginning of the course of using Actovegin in the form of a gel, local pain sensations may develop, which are associated with local tissue edema, which does not indicate intolerance to the drug.
If pain persists or lack / lack of a therapeutic effect, you should consult a doctor.
Solution for injection, solution for infusion
Possible violations: allergic reactions (in the form of skin rash, skin flushing, hyperthermia) up to anaphylactic shock.
Pills
Possible violations: allergic reactions (in the form of urticaria, edema, drug fever). In these cases, Actovegin is canceled, if necessary, standard treatment with antihistamines and / or corticosteroids is prescribed.
special instructions
When administered intramuscularly, Actovegin should be injected slowly, no more than 5 ml.
In connection with the likelihood of an anaphylactic reaction, a test injection (intramuscularly 2 ml) is recommended.
Solution for injection and infusion solutions have a slightly yellowish tint. The color intensity can vary from one batch to another, which does not affect the effectiveness of the drug. Do not use an opaque solution or a solution containing particles.
The solution of Actovegin in an opened package cannot be stored.
With multiple injections, it is necessary to monitor the water-electrolyte balance of blood plasma.
Drug interactions
The interaction of Actovegin has not been established.
