Hair Loss Causes
There are many reasons for hair loss. To begin with, some hair loss is a physiological norm. In this case, the reason for the loss is simple - the old cells of the hair follicle die off, and new ones develop in their place. Normally, a fairly significant number of hairs can fall out per day - from 20 to 60. New ones grow in their place. Trichologists and hairdressers know that thanks to this process, the hair on the head has different lengths, even if the bulk is trimmed at the same level.
It is a different matter when the causes of hair loss belong to the field of pathology. Hair, like nails, is an indicator of the health of the body as a whole. Therefore, all problems with hair: thinning, brittle, split ends, loss of pigment, as well as hair loss itself, indicate general disorders occurring in the body. Hormonal changes, stress, poisoning, including drug poisoning, vitamin and iron deficiency are all common causes of hair loss.
A fairly common cause of hair loss is direct trauma. This includes: exposure to the scalp with a chemical, including a poor-quality scalp care product such as a mask or shampoo, careless handling of long hair when combing. The same category includes the effects of poorly selected hair dyes, abuse of a hot hair dryer and curling iron, the bad habit of pulling strands and other traumatic factors.
Another common cause of hair loss is the use of chemotherapy in the treatment of malignant tumors. In this case, the toxic effect of the drug is so strong that almost all the hair falls out, however, there is no need to worry about this, because after the termination of the chemotherapy course, the hair grows back.
Hair loss can be caused by infections of the scalp. Diseases such as ringworm, dermatomycosis, trichophytosis, seborrhea, pityriasis versicolor, although not common, nevertheless create significant hair problems. They usually cause alopecia areata.
It is worth noting that before looking for the causes of hair loss, you need to make sure that this process is indeed pathological. To do this, trichologists offer the following test: no earlier than 3 days after shampooing, you need to slightly pull a strand of hair at the temple or crown. If after that more than 5 hairs remain in the hands, especially if the hair fell out along with the hair follicles, there really are reasons for concern. If less than 5 - the reasons for the death are physiological, you do not need to worry.
