The situation in most modern cities and towns is such that every person, not just a road user, should be able to provide first aid in case of an accident. After all, any person can find himself in such conditions when he will be the only one who will be near the victims, even just as a witness to the incident. It is clear that no one can help better than a doctor, but in cases of acute injuries, expectant tactics can be worse than a few simple steps to provide emergency care.
So what should you do if you find yourself near a car involved in an accident, knowing that there is one or more injured people in it?
In first aid for an accident, you need to remove a person from the car. This should be done very carefully, without making sudden movements, so as not to cause even greater injury. After the person has been removed, an attempt should be made to assess the extent of the damage. Make sure that this person needs first aid, because people sometimes die in an accident … To do this, bring a mirror, or an object that replaces it, for example, a mobile phone screen, to the victim's lips. If a person breathes, the mirror surface will fog up. You can also check the reaction to light, if a person, including an unconscious person, gets into the eyes, the pupil narrows.
Further measures of first aid in case of an accident involve an urgent call for an ambulance, but while she is driving, check for deep wounds, from which red blood is pouring out in jerks. This is a sign of arterial, the most dangerous, bleeding, and in such a situation, a tourniquet is required. Basic rules: the tourniquet is applied to clothing, 5 cm above the wound, on the tourniquet or directly on the victim's body, write the application time. The tourniquet is applied correctly if the bleeding has stopped.
