Why is an eyelid lift needed
The eyelid lift is the number one anti-aging surgery. This is not surprising, since the eyes are critical in how a person looks. This is especially true for women. Nature has played a cruel joke with women: it is for them that external beauty and youth are first of all important, and it is their skin that is so delicate and thin that it ages much faster than men. The periobital region and eyelids are the area of the most delicate and thin skin on the face, which is why age-related changes are most noticeable here.
Age-related changes in the skin around the eyes are divided into two types. The first is the expression lines in the corners of the eyes, and the second is the drooping of the eyelids. Why mimic wrinkles form in the corners of the eyes, also called "crow's feet", is clear from their name. This is the result of the activity of the periobital mimic muscles, and they do not always spoil the appearance, because these are the so-called wrinkles of laughter, although they are not only in funny people.
With the drooping of the eyelids, the situation is different. It always ages and worsens the appearance, which is why the eyelid lift plays a significant role in overall rejuvenation. Why does eyelid droop occur? Yes, just under the influence of gravity. All human tissues with age, losing their elasticity, that is, a certain structural rigidity, tend downward, obeying the force of gravity. There is a medical term for this phenomenon - ptosis. The eyelids are susceptible to ptosis just like any other tissue, but here it is most noticeable, since the eyes draw attention to themselves first.
Another cause of ptosis of the eyelids is the exchange of fluid in the body, namely water retention. All women know that in some phases of the cycle the body retains water, we notice this immediately by the appearance of bags under the eyes. Such fluctuations also cause the skin around the eyes to sag. Eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, is an aesthetic surgery
that removes the excess, drooping folds over the eyes. There is upper blepharoplasty, or upper eyelid lift, and lower blepharoplasty, or lower eyelid lift. It so happens that only the lower blepharoplasty is required, or only the upper one, but usually the best cosmetic effect can be achieved by applying simultaneously lifting the eyelids of both, this is called circular blepharoplasty.
A successful eyelid lift can subtract 5 to 15 years from real age. Sometimes it is recommended to carry it out together with a circular facelift, then the rejuvenating effect is even more significant.
