Fucidin is an external antibacterial drug.
Pharmacological action of Fucidin
The active component of Fucidin, fusidic acid, is a natural antibiotic introduced into medical practice in the early 1960s. Fusidic acid acts mainly on staphylococci, including strains resistant to penicillin, erythromycin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, as well as meningococci, streptococci, gonococci, pneumococci. According to the instructions, the mechanism of the antimicrobial action of Fucidin is associated with the rapid suppression of protein synthesis in a bacterial cell at the level of ribosomes.
Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Proteus, fungi and protozoa are insensitive to Fucidin.
In combination with hydrocotisone, Fucidin, according to the instructions, along with antibacterial, acquires anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties.
