Release form and composition
Dosage form Fucidin G - cream for external use: homogeneous, white (15 g in a tube, in a cardboard box 1 tube).
Composition of 1 g of cream:
- active substances: fusidic acid hemihydrate (in terms of anhydrous acid) - 20 mg, hydrocortisone acetate - 10 mg;
- auxiliary components: butylhydroxyanisole, cetyl alcohol, glycerol 85%, liquid paraffin, potassium sorbate, polysorbate 60, soft white paraffin, hydrochloric acid, purified water.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Fucidin G is a combined drug, its action is explained by the antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effects of hydrocortisone and the bacteriostatic effect of fusidic acid. The main mechanism of action of fusidic acid is due to its ability to disrupt protein biosynthesis in the cell of pathogens. This effect is not weakened by the presence of hydrocortisone in the preparation.
Fucidin G is active against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci: Streptococcus pyogenes, Neisseria meningitidis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Nocardia asteroides, and also representatives of the genus Pomonstridse, as well as

Pharmacokinetics
Systemic absorption of the drug is weak, about 2% penetrates the skin. Fusidic acid is excreted mainly in the bile, a small amount in the urine. Hydrocortisone is excreted in the urine.
Indications for use
Fucidin G cream is indicated for the treatment of atopic dermatitis complicated by an infection sensitive to fusidic acid.
Contraindications
- skin lesions caused by bacteria, fungi or viruses (including chickenpox, herpes, etc.);
- cutaneous manifestations of tuberculosis or syphilis;
- perioral dermatitis;
- rosacea;
- age up to 2 years;
- increased sensitivity to any component of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Fucidin G: method and dosage
Fucidin G cream is applied externally, applying a thin layer to the affected area of the skin 3 times a day. The recommended duration of treatment is 14 days.
Side effects
- immune system: systemic allergic reactions;
- skin and subcutaneous tissues: irritation, burning and tingling sensation at the site of application, allergic contact dermatitis, rash, depigmentation.
In addition, the manifestation of side effects characteristic of glucocorticosteroids is possible: cutaneous atrophy, folliculitis, perioral dermatitis, telangiectasia and striae (especially with prolonged use), hypertrichosis, inhibition of the adrenal cortex.
Overdose
With local application of the drug, an overdose is unlikely.
special instructions
Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and open wounds. In addition, you should not use it for a long time, since this increases the risk of suppression of the adrenal cortex and the development of antibiotic resistance, and atrophic changes may also occur on the face and, to a lesser extent, on other parts of the body. The use of combinations of an antibiotic and glucocorticosteroids should not last more than 2 weeks, since in this case the symptoms of infection and hypersensitivity reactions are masked by glucocorticosteroids.
In case of persistence of bacterial infection, treatment with systemic drugs should be initiated.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
According to the instructions, Fucidin G does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and other complex mechanisms that require the speed of psychomotor reactions.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy, prolonged use of the drug is contraindicated, as well as its use on large areas of the skin.
Breastfeeding is not a contraindication to the use of Fucidin G, however, if it is used on the skin of the nipple, the drug should be washed off before feeding.
