Flucomp is a combined drug with analgesic, antipyretic, decongestant and antiallergic action, used in the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections and other colds, including influenza.

Release form and composition

Dosage form Flucompa - powder for preparation of oral solution (lemon, orange): granular, uniform color; for a dosage of 325 mg + 20 mg + 10 mg - yellow, has a faint characteristic smell of lemon; for a dosage of 650 mg + 20 mg + 10 mg - orange, has a faint characteristic smell of orange (in a cardboard box 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 sachets of 2.5 g each or 5 g for a dosage of 325 mg + 20 mg + 10 mg or 650 mg + 20 mg + 10 mg, respectively).

Active ingredients in 1 sachet of powder:

  • paracetamol - 325 or 650 mg;
  • pheniramine maleate - 20 mg;
  • phenylephrine hydrochloride - 10 mg.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Flucomp is one of the combined drugs with antipyretic, decongestant, antiallergic and analgesic effects. Helps eliminate cold symptoms, manifested in the form of hyperthermia, chills, headache, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, muscle pain.

Flucomp's action is determined by the properties of the active ingredients:

  • paracetamol: has antipyretic and analgesic effects, helps to reduce high fever and reduce the pain syndrome characteristic of colds - sore throat, headache, muscle / joint pain;
  • phenylephrine: has a vasoconstrictor property, due to which swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membranes of the paranasal sinuses and upper respiratory tract decreases;
  • pheniramine: has antiallergic properties, as a result of its use, exudative manifestations decrease, itching of the eyes, throat and nose, hyperemia and swelling of the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx, paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity are eliminated.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Flucomp is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of ARVI (acute respiratory viral infections) and other colds, including flu.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • phenylketonuria;
  • glucose-galactose malabsorption, fructose intolerance, sucrase / isomaltase deficiency;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • age up to 12 years;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Relative (Flucomp is prescribed under medical supervision):

  • hyperplasia of the prostate;
  • deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
  • diabetes;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • severe kidney / liver disease;
  • angle-closure glaucoma.

Instructions for the use of Flucomp: method and dosage

Flucomp is taken orally. The drug can be used regardless of the time of day, but the best result is observed when taken at night before bedtime.

Single dose - 1 sachet. Before taking, its contents must be dissolved in 200 ml of hot boiled water. Consume hot. You can add sugar to taste.

You can re-take Flucomp at 4 hour intervals. You can use no more than three sachets per day.

The maximum duration of therapy is 3 days.

Side effects

Possible disorders: anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, increased arterial and intraocular pressure, dry mouth, vomiting, nausea, epigastric pain, drowsiness, fatigue, decreased speed of psychomotor reactions, palpitations, increased excitability, dizziness, sleep disturbance, paresis of accommodation, mydriasis, allergic reactions, urinary retention.

With prolonged therapy with high doses, the following adverse reactions may develop: hemolytic anemia, pancytopenia, methemoglobinemia, hepatotoxic / nephrotoxic effects.

Overdose

The main symptoms: anorexia, pallor of the skin, vomiting, nausea, pain in the epigastric region, nephrotoxic and hepatotoxic effects, in severe cases, the development of liver failure, encephalopathy and coma is possible.

Therapy: gastric lavage, intake of activated charcoal, symptomatic treatment; donors of SH-groups and precursors of glutathione synthesis are used (8-9 hours after overdose - methionine, after 12 hours - N-acetylcysteine).

Flucomp therapy is contraindicated in patients under 12 years of age.

Drug interactions

Possible interactions:

  • ethanol: the sedative effect of pheniramine is enhanced;
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors: not compatible with Flucomp;
  • rifampicin, barbiturates, carbamazepine, phenytoin, zidovudine and other inducers of liver microsomal enzymes: the likelihood of the hepatotoxic effect of paracetamol increases;
  • antipsychotic and antiparkinsonian drugs, antidepressants, phenothiazine derivatives: the risk of urinary retention, xerostomia increases;
  • sedative drugs, ethanol: their effect is enhanced.
