EFFEX Tribulus Evalar is a herbal remedy that has a tonic effect, stimulating some functions of the reproductive system.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - film-coated tablets: round, biconvex, brown, light brown in cross-section, with possible inclusions of brown, yellowish-white and white colors (in a cardboard box 1 polymer can containing 60, 90 or 180 tablets; 4 or 6 cell contour packs containing 15 tablets, as well as instructions for the use of EFFEX Tribulus).
Composition of 1 coated tablet:
- active substance: dry extract of the herb of creeping tribulus (35 + 45 ÷ 1, extractant - ethyl alcohol 70%) with a total content of furostanol saponins - 250 mg (in terms of protodioscin and dry matter 45%);
- auxiliary components: colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, potato starch, crospovidone, K17 povidone, calcium stearate, talc, lactose;
- film shell: macrogol-400 (polyethylene glycol 400), hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), polysorbate-80, talc, titanium dioxide, iron dye red oxide, iron dye black oxide.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
EFFEX Tribulus is a herbal remedy, the active ingredient of which is obtained from the aerial part of the creeping tribulus (Tribulus terrestris L.). The main biologically active components are steroidal saponins of the furostanol type.
The drug has a general tonic effect on the body. Stimulates some functions of the reproductive system in men: improves and restores sexual libido, lengthens the time of erection, and also activates spermatogenesis, increasing the number of sperm and their motility.
The mechanism of action of the active substance has not been established. Presumably, once in the body, the predominant steroid compound protodioscin is metabolized to dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a hormone that has a positive effect on immunity and cell membrane integrity, cholesterol metabolism and erectile function. It is known that cholesterol is the starting substance for the synthesis of all steroids, including DHEA, estradiol and testosterone, which explains the hypolipidemic effect of the drug. At the same time, in patients with lipoproteinemia, low density lipoproteins and total cholesterol decrease, the values of high density lipoproteins and serum triglycerides do not change.
Other active furostanol saponins contained in creeping tribulus extract are likely to modulate the effect of protodioscin.
Pharmacokinetics
Dry extract of creeping Tribulus contains a complex of biologically active substances, therefore it is not possible to conduct pharmacokinetic studies.
Indications for use
EFFEX Tribulus is prescribed in the complex therapy of the following diseases:
- erectile dysfunction, including accompanied by a decrease in libido;
- infertility in men due to idiopathic oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (decrease in the number and quality of sperm) or surgical intervention for varicocele (varicose veins of the testicular spermatic cord);
- immunological infertility in men;
- dyslipidemia - to lower total cholesterol levels.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- severe diseases of the cardiovascular system: myocardial infarction or stroke during the last year, as well as unstable, uncontrolled and severe diseases such as bradycardia (less than 50 beats / min), sick sinus syndrome, atrioventricular block II-III degree, sinoatrial block, chronic heart failure with symptoms at rest, unstable angina;
- severe renal failure [creatinine clearance (CC) 180 μmol / l];
- hyperplasia of the prostate;
- glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, Lapp lactase deficiency, galactosemia;
- age up to 18 years;
- the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- known hypersensitivity to any component in EFFEX Tribulus.
The drug should be used with caution by patients with diabetes mellitus.
EFFEX Tribulus, instructions for use: method and dosage
EFFEX Tribulus tablets should be taken orally, after meals.
Recommended dosage regimens:
- erectile dysfunction, infertility: 1-2 tablets 3 times a day for at least 90 days;
- dyslipidemia: 2 tablets 3 times a day for at least 3 months.
On the recommendation of a doctor, repeated courses can be carried out.
Side effects
- from the gastrointestinal tract: nausea (due to irritating effect on the gastric mucosa);
- from the immune system: allergic reactions.
Overdose
Overdose cases have not been reported. In case of taking an excessive dose of EFFEX Tribulus, it is presumably possible to develop dyspeptic disorders.
Treatment is symptomatic.

The components in EFFEX Tribulus do not have a negative effect on the speed of reactions and the ability to concentrate, therefore, restrictions in the field of activity for the period of treatment are not required.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.
Pediatric use
EFFEX Tribulus is contraindicated in patients under the age of 18.
With impaired renal function
The drug is contraindicated in severe renal failure (CC 180 μmol / l).
For violations of liver function
There is no data on the need to correct the dosage regimen for patients with functional liver disorders.
Use in the elderly
There is no evidence of the need to change the therapy regimen for elderly patients.
Drug interactions
EFFEX Tribulus can enhance the effect of diuretics and antihypertensive drugs.
