Release form and composition
Dosage form - granules: irregular, almost white or white, with a lemon scent (in a cardboard box of 14 or 28 aluminum foil sachets of 800 mg each and instructions for the use of Espumisan extra).
Composition for 1 sachet:
- active substance: simethicone - 125 mg;
- auxiliary components: talc - 20 mg; sorbitol - 647.9 mg; malic acid - 6 mg; lemon flavor - 1 mg; creamy flavor - 0.1 mg.

The action of Espumisan extra is aimed at reducing the amount of gas in the gastrointestinal tract.
The active ingredient of the drug - simethicone, has surface-active properties and the ability to lower the surface tension at the interface between two media - liquid and gas. This leads to the fusion of gas bubbles and, as a result, the destruction of foam in the intestine. As a result, the gas after release is absorbed or naturally excreted under the influence of intestinal peristalsis.
Simethicone, used in preparation for diagnostic studies of the abdominal organs, becomes an obstacle to the appearance of image defects that cause gas bubbles.
Pharmacokinetics
Simethicone is a chemically inert substance, after oral administration it is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (it acts only in its lumen).
It does not interact with enzymes and microorganisms, it does not affect the digestion processes. It is excreted from the body unchanged by the intestines.
Indications for use
- symptoms of excessive gas formation, which are associated with functional dyspepsia;
- symptoms that are manifested by excessive formation and accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract (including flatulence, increased gas production in the postoperative period);
- preparation for the behavior of diagnostic studies (ultrasound, radiography, etc.) of the pelvic organs and the abdominal cavity.
Contraindications
- intestinal obstruction;
- hereditary fructose intolerance;
- age up to 6 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Espumisan extra, instructions for use: method and dosage
Espumisan extra is taken orally, before or after meals, according to indications - before bedtime. The granules from the bag must be poured into the mouth, directly onto the tongue. It is not required to drink the drug, but if necessary, the granules can be washed down with water.
The frequency of admission and the duration of therapy are determined by the severity of the symptoms. If necessary, Espumisan extra can be taken for a long time.
For complaints related to excessive gas formation, Espumisan extra granules are prescribed 1 sachet before or after a meal, if necessary, one more single dose can be taken additionally before bedtime.
A single dose for adults and children over 14 years of age, according to indications, can be doubled.
Maximum daily dose:
- children 6-14 years old: 3 sachets;
- adults and children from 14 years old: 6 sachets.
During preparation for research (ultrasound, radiography), Espumisan extra is taken 3 times a day after meals a day before diagnosis and in the morning of the procedure. Single dose - 1 sachet.
Side effects
