The drug belongs to the group of probiotics - means for normalizing the composition of the intestinal microflora. According to the instructions, Enterol is created on the basis of the yeast fungi Saccharomyces boulardii. They enter the intestine in competition for a place on the intestinal walls with pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms. This antagonism is responsible for the antimicrobial effect of Enterol against Clostridia, Candida, Klebsiella, Yersinia, Shigella, Staphylococcus and other pathogenic microbes.
The probiotic is also able to neutralize toxins in the intestines - the body's own toxins and formed as a result of the vital activity of bacteria. It increases the enzymatic activity of the intestines.
When using Enterol inside, it does not change as a result of passing through the digestive tract, colonizes the intestines, and is removed from it 2-5 days after stopping the intake.
Release form
According to the instructions, Enterol is released in capsules and sachets (for children), 250 mg each.
Indications
The drug is used in case of diarrhea of any origin (viral, bacterial, traveler's diarrhea), as well as for its prevention, for example, during antibiotic treatment.
Contraindications
This probiotic is not used in case of hypersensitivity to its constituent components, in case of impaired absorption of glucose and galactose.
There are no reviews about Enterol during the treatment of pregnant and lactating women with it, therefore it is not used in this category of patients.
Do not use the drug in patients who have a central venous catheter installed, since colonization of the intravascular part of the catheter by Saccharomyces fungi is possible with a decrease in immunity in patients.
Instructions for the use of Enterol
The drug is intended for oral administration. Capsules are swallowed whole with water. If there are indications for Enterol in young children, as well as with difficulty swallowing, then the capsules can be opened, or the drug can be used in sachets, adding to the drink. To maximize the effect of treatment, you should refrain from taking the drug immediately after meals, keeping an interval of 1-2 hours.
Since the probiotic is based on living cells, it should not be added to food or drink hotter than 50 degrees, or mixed with alcohol. Enterol is not used as the only means to combat diarrhea; it is imperative to replenish fluid from the outside in any possible way - parenterally or orally.
Adults need 2-4 capsules of the drug per day.
Enterol is approved for use in children from the neonatal period. Its dose up to 1 year - 1 capsule (sachet) per day, from 1 to 3 years - 1 capsule (sachet) 2 times a day, from 3 years - 1-2 capsules 2 times a day. The course depends on the severity of the symptoms of intestinal damage and is determined by the doctor.
Do not use this probiotic at the same time as antifungal drugs.
Side effects
According to reviews, Enterol sometimes causes nausea or abdominal pain; discontinuation of the drug in this case is not required.
