Solution for intramuscular injection Chondroguard

Chondroguard is a remedy that stimulates the regeneration of cartilage tissue.

Release form and composition

Composition of 1 ml solution:

  • auxiliary components: phenylcarbinol, sodium metabisulfite, sodium hydroxide, water for injection.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of Chondroguard, chondroitin sodium sulfate, is a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide that has a positive effect on metabolic metabolic processes in hyaline cartilage. It helps to reduce degenerative changes in the cartilage tissue of the joints, to accelerate the processes of its restoration, and stimulates the formation of proteoglycans. Thanks to chondroitin, phosphorus-calcium metabolism is restored, pain is reduced and the mobility of the affected joints improves. In the case of degenerative changes in the joints with secondary synovitis, treatment with the drug gives a positive effect already 2-3 weeks after the start of the course of therapy: pain syndrome decreases, the severity of clinical manifestations of reactive synovitis is significantly reduced, and the range of motion in diseased joints expands. After the end of the course of treatment with chondroitin, the therapeutic effect lasts for a long time.

Pharmacokinetics

Chondroitin sulfate is rapidly distributed after intramuscular injection. Already half an hour after administration, its significant concentration is observed in the blood. The maximum concentration (C max) of the substance in the blood plasma is reached after 1 hour, then gradually decreases within two days.

Chondroitin accumulates mainly in the cartilage tissue of the joints. The synovial membrane does not prevent the penetration of the substance into the joint cavity. Experiments have shown the presence of chondroitin sulfate in the synovial fluid 15 minutes after intravenous administration of the drug. Then the substance penetrates into the cartilaginous tissue and reaches C max there after 48 hours.

Indications for use

  • degenerative-dystrophic lesions of the joints and spine: osteoarthritis of the peripheral joints, intervertebral osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis;
  • fractures - to speed up the formation of callus.

Contraindications

  • thrombophlebitis;
  • bleeding and increased bleeding;
  • pregnancy and lactation period;
  • childhood;
  • increased individual sensitivity to chondroitin or any of the auxiliary ingredients of the drug.

Instructions for the use of Hondrogard: method and dosage

Chondroguard solution is administered intramuscularly. The recommended starting dose is 100 mg every other day. Starting from the fourth injection, the dose is increased to 200 mg every other day, provided that the drug is well tolerated. The course of therapy includes 25-30 injections. If necessary, it is possible to repeat the course in 6 months.

To accelerate the formation of callus, the duration of the course of treatment is 3-4 weeks (10-14 injections every other day).

Side effects

During the use of Chondrogard, it is possible to develop allergic reactions in the form of itching, erythema, urticaria, dermatitis, as well as local reactions in the form of hemorrhage at the injection site.

Drug interactions

It is possible to enhance the effect of indirect anticoagulants, fibrinolytics and antiplatelet agents when used simultaneously with chondroitin sodium sulfate, as a result of which, in such cases, more frequent monitoring of blood clotting parameters is required.
