Release form and composition
The drug is produced in the form of tablets: round, flat-cylindrical, white, with a chamfer and a dividing line (10 pcs. In blisters, 1 package in a cardboard box and instructions for the use of Platyphyllin with papaverine).

- active ingredients: platifillin hydrotartrate - 5 mg; papaverine hydrochloride - 20 mg;

Platifillin with papaverine is a combined antispasmodic drug, the action of which is due to the following properties of the active ingredients:
- papaverine: a myotropic antispasmodic, by reducing the tone of the smooth muscles of internal organs, including blood vessels, the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), the respiratory and genitourinary system, helps to relax them. Has a hypotensive effect, inhibits PDE (phosphodiesterase);
- Platyphylline: an m-cholinergic blocker that blocks acetylcholine muscarinic receptors (m-cholinergic receptors) by disrupting the transmission of impulses from postganglionic cholinergic nerves to effector organs and tissues (smooth muscle organs, heart, glands of external secretion) innervated by them. Penetrates the BBB (blood-brain barrier). As a result of a decrease in the influence of the vagus nerve (nervus vagus), atrioventricular conduction improves, myocardial excitability increases, heart rate (HR) and minute blood volume increase. The direct myotropic antispasmodic effect of platifillin promotes the expansion of small vessels of the skin, a decrease in smooth muscle tone, the amplitude and frequency of peristaltic contractions of the muscles of the stomach, small and large intestines, and duodenum. - increased intraocular pressure: with closed-angle glaucoma, it can contribute to the development of the mydriatic effect with a further increase in fluid pressure inside the eye, up to an acute attack of the disease; with open-angle glaucoma, the mydriatic effect contributes to a slight increase in intraocular pressure, at which correction of therapy will be necessary;
- xerostomia: long-term treatment may cause a further increase in the severity of dryness of the oral mucosa;
- hepatic and / or renal failure;
- chronic lung diseases (especially in debilitated patients or children): taking Platifillin with papaverine can cause a decrease in bronchial secretion, thickening of secretions and the formation of congestion in the bronchi;
- myasthenia gravis: worsening of the condition is possible due to inhibition of the effect of acetylcholine;
- autonomic (autonomic) neuropathy: the likelihood of urinary retention and accommodation paralysis increases;
- hypertrophy of the prostate gland without obstruction of the urinary tract, urinary retention or the presence of factors predisposing to it, other diseases accompanied by obstruction of the urinary tract (including obstruction of the bladder neck as a result of prostatic hypertrophy);
- gestosis: therapy for this complication of pregnancy can increase arterial hypertension;

Side effects

Symptoms: weakness, drowsiness, diplopia, hyperthermia, dryness of the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and throat, difficulty in swallowing and speaking, agitation, suppression of the activity of the respiratory and vasomotor centers, paralytic intestinal obstruction, paralysis of accommodation, glaucoma, mydriasis, tremor, convulsions, depression nervous system, in patients with prostatic hyperplasia - acute urinary retention.
Treatment: immediate gastric lavage. Parenteral administration of cholinesterase inhibitors and cholinostimulants is shown. Appointment of symptomatic therapy: with hyperthermia - taking antipyretic drugs and wet rubdown; when excited - sodium thiopental (intravenous) or chloral hydrate (rectally); with mydriasis - physostigmine, pilocarpine (in the form of eye drops). In case of an attack of glaucoma, it is recommended to use 1% pilocarpine solution (2 drops in the conjunctival sac with an interval of 1 hour) and 0.05% neostigmine methyl sulfate solution (1 ml subcutaneously 3-4 times a day).

- quinidine, procainamide: increase the m-anticholinergic effect of platifillin;
