Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets: flat-cylindrical, white, beveled (10 or 25 pcs. In blister contour packs, in a cardboard box 2 or 5 packs of 10 tablets, or 1, 2 or 4 packs of 25 tablets and instructions for use of Fensitat).
Composition of 1 tablet:
- active substance: bromodihydrochlorophenylbenzodiazepine - 0.5 or 1 mg;
- auxiliary components: medical gelatin, potato starch, lactose (milk sugar), calcium stearate.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Phenzitate is a tranquilizer from the group of benzodiazepine derivatives. It has a pronounced anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, hypnotic and sedative effect.
Anxiolytic action is manifested by a decrease in emotional stress, relaxation of anxiety, fear and anxiety. Sedation is expressed in the reduction of neurotic symptoms such as fear and anxiety.
The drug enhances the effects of concurrently used anticonvulsants, hypnotics and narcotic drugs, as well as ethyl alcohol.
Pharmacokinetics
Getting into the gastrointestinal tract after ingestion, the drug is well absorbed. The maximum concentration reaches within 1–2 hours.
It is metabolized in the liver. It is excreted mainly in the form of metabolites by the kidneys.
The half-life is 6-18 hours.
Indications for use
- various neurotic, neurosis-like, psychopathic, psychopathic and other conditions, accompanied by increased irritability, emotional lability, tension, fear and anxiety;
- reactive psychoses, autonomic dysfunctions, hypochondriac-senestopathic syndrome (including those resistant to the action of other tranquilizers), nighttime sleep disorders;
- hyperkinesis, tics, muscle stiffness;
- relief of status epilepticus, serial seizures of various etiologies;
- prevention of states of fear and emotional stress.
In anesthesiology, Fensitat is used for premedication as a component of induction anesthesia.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- severe liver / kidney dysfunction;
- severe myasthenia gravis;
- period of pregnancy;
- poisoning with ethyl alcohol, sleeping pills or narcotic drugs, neuroleptics, other tranquilizers;
- hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
Fensitate should be used with caution in the elderly.
Fenzitat, instructions for use: method and dosage
Fenzitat tablets are taken orally.
Recommended dosage regimens:
- neurotic, neurosis-like, psychopathic and psychopathic states: 0.5-1 mg 2-3 times a day. After 2-4 days, if necessary, the daily dose is increased to 4-6 mg, while most of the dose should be taken by patients before bedtime (for example, in the morning - 0.5-1 mg, at night - 2.5 mg);
- severe agitation, fear and anxiety: the initial daily dose is 3 mg, then the dose is intensively increased until the required therapeutic effect is achieved;
- epilepsy: 2-10 mg per day;
- alcohol withdrawal: 2.5–5 mg per day;
- diseases with increased muscle tone: 2-3 mg 1-2 times a day.
The average daily dose is 1.5-5 mg in 2-3 divided doses, usually 0.5-1 mg in the morning and afternoon, 2.5 mg at night. The maximum allowable daily dose is 10 mg.
The duration of therapy is determined individually, the course of treatment can last up to 2 months. When canceling Fensitat, the dose should be gradually reduced. If necessary, the drug is combined with other drugs (for example, hypnotics or anticonvulsants), taking into account the mutual potentiation of their effects.
For sleep disorders, Fensitat should be taken at 0.25–0.5 mg 20–30 minutes before bedtime.
Side effects
The drug is generally well tolerated. In some cases, the following side effects occur: nausea, muscle weakness, ataxia, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, impaired memory and coordination of movements (especially in the case of high doses of Fensitat), as well as allergic reactions (skin rashes, itching) and drug dependence.
The nature of adverse reactions and their frequency depend on the patient's individual sensitivity to the drug, its dose used and the duration of treatment. When the dose is reduced or the therapy is discontinued, the disorders disappear.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
During the period of treatment, it is forbidden to perform potentially dangerous types of work that require concentration of attention, quick reactions and precise movements (including driving a car).
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Fensitate is contraindicated during pregnancy.

With impaired renal function
Severe renal dysfunction is a contraindication to the appointment of Fensitat tablets.
