Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Taurine, the active substance of Dibikor, is a natural metabolic product of sulfur-containing amino acids: cysteamine, cysteine, methionine. It has osmoregulatory and membrane-protective efficacy, has a positive effect on the phospholipid composition of cell membranes, and helps to normalize the exchange of potassium and calcium ions in cells.

It has the properties of an inhibitory neurotransmitter, has an antioxidant and antistress effect, regulates the release of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), prolactin, adrenaline and other hormones, as well as responses to them. It takes part in the synthesis of proteins of the respiratory chain in mitochondria, is necessary for oxidative processes, affects the enzymes responsible for the metabolism of various xenobiotics.

In patients with diabetes mellitus, about 2 weeks after starting therapy, a decrease in blood glucose levels is observed. There was also a significant decrease in the concentration of triglycerides, to a somewhat lesser extent - atherogenicity of plasma lipids, cholesterol levels. With a long course (about six months), there is an improvement in the microcirculatory blood flow of the eye.

Other effects of Dibikor:

  • improvement of metabolic processes in the liver, heart and other tissues and organs;
  • an increase in blood flow and a decrease in the severity of cytolysis against the background of chronic diffuse liver diseases;
  • reduction of congestion in the small / large circles of blood circulation in cardiovascular failure, which manifests itself in the form of a decrease in intracardiac diastolic pressure, an increase in myocardial contractility;
  • reduction of hepatotoxicity of antifungal drugs in combination with the use;
  • moderate decrease in blood pressure with arterial hypertension, while in patients with cardiovascular insufficiency with low blood pressure levels, this effect is absent;
  • a decrease in the severity of side reactions caused by an overdose of cardiac glycosides and blockers of slow calcium channels;
  • increase in performance during heavy physical exertion.

Pharmacokinetics

After a single dose of Dibikor in a dose of 500 mg, taurine is determined in the blood after 15–20 minutes. C max (maximum concentration) is achieved in 1.5–2 hours. After 24 hours, the drug is excreted from the body in full.

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus, including those accompanied by hypercholesterolemia;
