  • active ingredients (in terms of 100% substance): inosine (riboxin) - 0.1 g; succinic acid - 0.1 g; nicotinamide - 0.05 g; riboflavin - 0.01 g;
  • additional substances: magnesium stearate, dextrose (glucose).

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Cerebronorm is a drug of cerebroprotective, antihypoxic, antioxidant and metabolic action, which promotes the production of serotonin and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in neurons, limiting the zone of necrosis. The drug provides an improvement in cerebral blood flow and metabolic processes in the central nervous system (CNS), has a beneficial effect on the intellectual-mnestic functions of the brain, helps to eliminate reflex disorders and sensitivity disorders. The pharmacological activity of a metabolic agent is due to the combined effect of its components on the production of adenosine triphosphoric acid (ATP) in mitochondria. The active ingredients of Cerebronorm are characterized by the following properties:

  • succinic acid: is one of the substrates of the Krebs cycle, activates the enzyme succinate dehydrogenase, stimulates the activity of the fastest - succinate oxidase pathway of the formation of high-energy molecules (macroergs); as a result of the regulatory effect, the active substance reduces the formation of free radicals, leads to the restoration of the energy potential of the cell and an increase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes; enhances the action of redox enzymes of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, improves the utilization of fatty acids and glucose, increases the production of nucleic acids and protein, stimulates the resynthesis of macroergs even with hypoxia and severe ischemia; the product demonstrates a significant antitoxic effect, providing energy support for the implementation of the detoxification and elimination processes;
  • riboxin: is a precursor of ATP, has antihypoxic, anabolic and metabolic effects; the active substance helps cells utilize pyruvic acid and carbohydrates, improves oxidative processes by activating the enzymes of the Krebs cycle and xanthine dehydrogenase; the effect of the agent is fixed even with a reduced level of oxygen in the blood; helps to increase the energy balance of cells, reduce platelet aggregation and activate the mechanisms of tissue regeneration;
  • nicotinamide: refers to the coenzymes NAD- (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) -dependent mitochondrial dehydrogenases, which, as a result of hydrogen transfer, ensure the course of redox and synthetic processes; the active ingredient takes an active part in tissue respiration, carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism, normalizes glucose utilization, improves microcirculation, has an antitoxic and weak anticoagulant effect; reducing the lack of tryptophan, which is a precursor of the neurotransmitter serotonin, the agent affects higher nervous activity; ensuring the production of serotonin in the central nervous system, the drug leads to a decrease in the manifestations of insomnia, weakening of nervousness, depression, anxiety, reduces the severity of depression, delirium, hallucinations,enhances concentration of attention;
  • riboflavin: contributes to the normalization of metabolic processes of mitochondria in case of hypoxia and an increased need for ATP through interaction with the latter and the formation of coenzymes of flavoproteins - flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and flavin mononucleotide (FMN), which are responsible for the activity of cytochrome-C-reductase and succinate oxidase complex; due to the effect of the drug, carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism is activated and redox processes are normalized; the active substance participates in the production of hemoglobin and maintains the normal visual function of the eye.

Pharmacokinetics

All active components of Cerebronorm tablets are characterized by good absorption in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), as well as distribution in the body and metabolic transformation:

  • succinic acid: oxidized in mitochondria to carbon dioxide (CO 2), which is excreted with exhaled air; half of the administered dose of the active substance is eliminated from the body in 0.48 hours, the period for reaching the maximum concentration is 0.75 hours; in the case of a single dose of a therapeutic dose of the drug circulates in the blood for 0.89 hours;
  • riboxin: metabolized in the liver, leading to the formation of glucuronic acid and its further oxidation; excreted in the urine in an insignificant volume; in plasma, the maximum concentration of riboxin (C max) is observed approximately 1 hour after administration, the half-life (T 1/2) from plasma is on average 50 minutes;
  • nicotinamide: intensively distributed after oral administration in all tissues; passes through the placenta and into breast milk; biotransformation is carried out in the liver, leading to the formation of nicotinamide-N-methylnicotinamide; excreted by the kidneys, T 1/2 from plasma - 1.3 hours;
  • riboflavin: unevenly distributed after oral administration - mainly penetrates into the heart muscle, liver and kidneys; the active substance penetrates the placental barrier and into the mother's milk; it binds to proteins by no more than 60%, the excretion of the drug is carried out by the kidneys mainly unchanged and in a small volume - in the form of metabolites; T 1/2 from plasma is approximately 2 hours.

Indications for use

Cerebronorm is recommended for use in the complex therapy of the following diseases:

  • chronic cerebral circulation insufficiency;
  • ischemic disorders of cerebral circulation - the recovery period;
  • encephalopathy of various etiologies - hepatic, alcoholic and others.

Contraindications

  • gout;
  • urolithiasis disease;
  • age up to 18 years;
  • During pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • hypersensitivity to the components of Cerebronorm.

Cerebronorm, instructions for use: method and dosage

The metabolic agent is taken orally after meals 3 times a day, 1 tablet.

The maximum permissible daily dose of Cerebronorm is 5 tablets.

The course of treatment can vary from 28 to 42 days, repeated courses are carried out 2-3 times a year.

Side effects

The drug is not toxic, does not lead to addiction and, as a rule, is well tolerated.

With individual intolerance to the constituent tablets of Cerebronorm, allergic reactions may occur in the form of a rash, itching and redness of the skin.

Overdose

In case of an overdose of Cerebronorm, symptoms such as flushing of the skin, a burning sensation, numbness or tingling sensation may develop.

special instructions

During therapy, there may be a change in the color of urine - staining in a dark or pale yellow color.

Cerebronorm can increase the level of uric acid in the blood and exacerbate the risk of flare-ups of gout. Possible deterioration of kidney function and the appearance of visual impairment.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Treatment with Cerebronorm is contraindicated for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Pediatric use

Since there are no clinical data on the use of Cerebronorm in pediatrics, its use is contraindicated in patients under 18 years of age.

With impaired renal function

Therapy with the drug in patients with urolithiasis is contraindicated. During the course of treatment, deterioration of the kidneys may be recorded.

Drug interactions

  • phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants, ethanol, agents that suppress tubular secretion: absorption decreases and metabolic transformation of riboflavin slows down;
  • imipramine, chlorpromazine, amitriptyline: due to the blockade of flavinokinase, the incorporation of riboflavin into FAD and FMN is disrupted and its excretion in the urine increases;
  • angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, thyroid hormones: the rate of riboflavin biotransformation increases;
  • oxytetracycline, doxycycline, tetracycline, lincomycin, erythromycin: the activity of these substances decreases;
  • antiarrhythmic, inotropic and antianginal drugs: there is an increase in the effect of these drugs, due to inosine;
  • streptomycin: revealed incompatibility with riboflavin;
  • m-anticholinergics: increased absorption and bioavailability of riboflavin as a result of weakening intestinal motility;
  • methotrexate: the effect of riboflavin decreases;
  • bile acid sequestrants: absorption of these agents decreases;
  • chloramphenicol: reduces and prevents unwanted effects of this substance, including optic neuritis and impaired hematopoiesis;
  • succinic acid: there is a good combination of this substance with all drugs and a decrease in the side toxic effect of the latter;
  • acetylsalicylic acid, cardiac glycosides, antihypertensive, antispasmodic and fibrinolytic agents: the effect of these drugs increases under the influence of nicotinamide.
