Diet on porridge ("Six porridge")
The cereal diet gained wide recognition in 2010, when (under the name "Six cereals") it was recognized as the discovery of the year. It belongs to mono-diets and ideally excludes everything from the diet except cereals and water. People who are accustomed to a varied menu can hardly tolerate this. If it is difficult to maintain a mono-diet, it is allowed to use low-fat kefir, some vegetables and fruits. However, it should be borne in mind that the effect of a "diluted" porridge diet may be the opposite: while monotonous food gradually "lulls" the appetite, a more varied diet stimulates it.
Diet rules for porridge:
- it is allowed to eat porridge without restrictions;
- all cereals must be cooked in water without any additives;
- only one type of cereal is used during the day;
- different types of cereals alternate within seven days, while choosing cereals and the order of their use can be to your liking;
- in the morning on an empty stomach you need to drink a glass of water, and during the day drink water half an hour before or half an hour after a meal.

Advantages of a porridge diet
A porridge diet can effectively reduce weight: it takes from 0.5 to 1 kg per day.
Its other advantages are also undeniable:
- due to the high content of "slow" carbohydrates, porridge fills with energy for a long time and ensures satiety;
- diet helps to improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract;
- the diet is rich in trace elements;
- a large amount of fiber contained in porridge acts like a brush, cleaning the intestinal walls;
- cereals adsorb and remove toxins from the digestive tract, which is especially important for residents of megacities.
Disadvantages and contraindications of the porridge diet
Despite its usefulness, the diet does not contain the required set of nutrients.
Psychologically, a porridge diet is perceived as boring, which means a high risk of breakdown. But with the first results (weight loss, improvement of health and appearance) "a second wind opens" and it becomes easier to adhere to this nutrition system.
There are contraindications to the porridge diet for health reasons:
- pregnancy and lactation;
- gastrointestinal diseases;
- gluten intolerance;
- diabetes.
What foods are allowed?
During the diet, cereals from any cereals, except for semolina, boiled in water are allowed:
- buckwheat;
- oatmeal (from whole oats);
- rice;
- pearl barley;
- barley;
- millet;
- from quinoa; and etc.
It is recommended to drink plain water or still mineral water, herbal or green tea.
Eligible products include:
- low fat kefir;
- tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, herbs;
- pears, green apples.
What foods are prohibited?
All products are excluded from the diet, except for those permitted.
