Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Artradol is a drug with chondroprotective, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, which helps to restore the cartilaginous surfaces of the joints, preventing the collapse of the connective tissue. Participates in the normalization of the synthesis of joint fluid, causing an improvement in joint mobility and a decrease in the intensity of pain. Structural similarity with heparin provides it with the potential to prevent the formation of fibrin thrombi in the synovial and subchondral microvasculature. The effect of the drug is due to the properties of the active substance - chondroitin sulfate, which is the main component of proteoglycans, which together with collagen fibers make up the cartilage matrix.
The chondroprotective properties of chondroitin sulfate make it possible to suppress the activity of enzymes that cause degradation of the articular cartilage, stimulate the production of proteoglycans by chondrocytes, enhance metabolic processes in cartilage and subchondral bone, and stimulate the regeneration of cartilage tissue and phosphorus-calcium metabolism in it. Proteoglycan chondroitin is involved in the construction of the basic substance of cartilage and bone tissue.
The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect of chondroitin sulfate helps to reduce pain factors through synoviocytes and macrophages of the synovial membrane, the release of inflammatory mediators into the synovial fluid. It inhibits the secretion of leukotriene B4 and prostaglandin E2.
Pharmacokinetics
After the / m of chondroitin sulfate is readily absorbed, after 1 / 4 chasa detected in synovial fluid. In the blood through the 1 / 2 hour, he reaches a significant level of content, and by 1 hour - the maximum concentration (Cmax). Then there is a slow decrease in the concentration of the drug in the blood within 48 hours. Chondroitin tends to accumulate mainly in cartilaginous tissue; 48 hours after administration, its content in the articular cartilage reaches its maximum level.
It is excreted through the kidneys within 24 hours.
When applied externally, Artradol practically does not have systemic absorption.
