Hepatrombin gel
Hepatrombin gel

Hepatrombin is a combined drug for external use with antithrombotic, regenerating, anticoagulant (inhibits blood clotting), anti-edema and anti-inflammatory properties.

Hepatrombin contains sodium heparin, dexapanthenol and allantoin.

Heparin is a direct-acting anticoagulant, which is explained by its inhibitory effect directly on coagulation factors. This substance is extracted from the lungs of cattle. Heparin inhibits reactions that cause blood coagulation and the formation of blood clots, improves blood circulation, helps to wash out stagnant tissue fluid and harmful products formed as a result of metabolism.

The other two components of Hepatrombin enhance the effect of heparin, improve its penetration and also protect the skin.

Hepatrombin G is an anti-hemorrhoidal agent.

This drug contains heparin, prednisolone acetate and polidocanol.

Heparin causes the antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative (removes the fluid formed at the site of inflammation) action of Hepatrombin G.

Heparin prevents blood coagulation in hemorrhoids, participates in the regeneration of connective tissue. Prednisolone, contained in Hepatrombin G, enhances the effect of heparin, and also reduces the inflammation, pain, burning and itching sensations in the anorectal region. Thanks to polydoknol, Gepatrombin G promotes sclerosis of hemorrhoids (gluing the walls of the node with its subsequent drying out) and has a local anesthetic effect.

Indications for use

The instruction recommends the use of the drug Gepatrombin for:

  • thrombosis (the formation of blood clots in the lumen of blood vessels);
  • thrombophlebitis (thrombosis with the formation of a blood clot that closes the lumen of a vein);
  • varicose veins;
  • trophic ulcers of the leg;
  • tendovaginitis (inflammation of the connective tissue sheaths of the tendon);
  • inflammatory infiltrates (accumulation of cellular elements with an admixture of lymph and blood in the tissues of the body);
  • lymphagnitis (inflammation of the lymph nodes);
  • mastitis (inflammation of the breast);
  • furuncle (acute inflammation of the hair follicle and surrounding tissue)
  • carbuncle (purulent-necrotic inflammation around a group of hair follicles).

As evidenced by clinical studies and reviews, Hepatrombin is effective in sports injuries.

Hepatrombin G is prescribed for external and internal hemorrhoids; eczema, fistulas (fluid passages), and itching in the anus thrombophlebitis of the veins of the anus; cracks in the anus.

Instructions for the use of Hepatrombin

Hepatrombin is available in the form of a gel and ointment, which are intended for external use.

Hepatrombin ointment is applied in the form of a column (about 5 cm) from 1 to 3 times a day directly to the affected areas. In case of vein diseases, Hepatrombin ointment is applied with a bandage. Treatment of trophic ulcers involves applying an ointment in the form of a ring with a diameter of about 4 centimeters. When treating the veins of the lower extremities, the drug should be rubbed in the direction from bottom to top with light movements, while the instruction for Hepatrombin recommends a single dose to be applied in separate portions. In the treatment of boils and carbuncles, according to reviews of Hepatrombin, the use of gauze compresses with ointment gives a greater effect than the usual application of the drug.

Unlike the ointment, Hepatrombin in the form of a gel should only be applied to intact skin.

The gel is recommended to be used several times a day, rubbing from the bottom up with massaging movements. The drug in the form of a gel, like the Hepatrombin ointment, for thrombosis and thrombophlebitis, must be applied without rubbing and massaging.

Hepatrombin G can be used in the form of an ointment or rectal suppository. The ointment should be applied in a thin layer 2-4 times a day to the affected areas. After the painful sensations disappear, the drug is applied once a day for a week. Suppositories Hepatrombin G are injected into the anal passage after a bowel movement 1-2 times a day. To inject the ointment, you must use the attached tip, which facilitates the process of using the drug.

Ointment and suppositories Hepatrombin G is not recommended for use for more than two weeks, since prolonged use of this drug can provoke the development of systemic adverse reactions.

Side effects

Reviews of Hepatrombin confirm its good tolerance, however, in some cases, allergic reactions (urticaria, skin rash, angioedema) to the use of the drug are possible.

Hepatrombin G can also cause skin flushing or allergic reactions.
