Decatilen is an antiseptic drug that has a bactericidal and fungistatic effect, and has a weak analgesic effect.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - lollipops (20 or 100 pieces per package).
Content of active substances in 1 decatilen lozenge:
- Dequalinium chloride - 0.25 mg;
- Dibucaine hydrochloride - 0.03 mg.
Auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, peppermint flavor, colloidal silicon dioxide, sorbitol, peppermint oil, talc.
Pharmacological properties
Decatilen is intended for use in otolaryngological and dental practice. It is characterized by antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal and hemostatic properties.
Pharmacodynamics
Dequalinium chloride is active against the following microorganisms:
gram-positive bacteria: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus subtilis, as well as gram-positive cocci [Streptococcus salivarius, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus auretcyllin;
gram-negative bacteria: Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, as well as gram-negative cocci (Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria catarrhalis);
mushrooms: Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Candida albicans, Actinomyces, as well as Treponema vincentii (causative agent of Simanovsky - Plaut - Vincent's angina).
Dibucaine hydrochloride has a mild local anesthetic effect and reduces pain in infectious diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx.
Decatilene usually does not cause local irritation or allergic reactions.
Pharmacokinetics
Due to the fact that Decatilen is used topically, its systemic effect on the body is insignificant. The main active ingredient of the drug is dequalinium chloride, which is absorbed in small quantities.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Decatilen is indicated for the prevention and local treatment of diseases of the oral cavity and throat:
- Anginal infections: lacunar, catarrhal, ulcerative membranous tonsillitis;
- Buccopharyngeal candidiasis;
- Catarrhal infections: laryngitis, pharyngitis;
- Painful infections of the mouth and throat;
- Inflammation of the gums and mucous membranes: gingivitis, aphthous and ulcerative stomatitis;
- Conditions after tonsillectomy and tooth extraction;
- Prevention of inflammatory diseases during periods of outbreaks of infections.
Contraindications
- children under 4 years of age;
- a history of hypersensitivity reactions to benzalkonium chloride and other quaternary ammonium compounds;
- increased individual sensitivity to the active and auxiliary components of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Decatilen: method and dosage
Lozenges are applied by slow absorption.
The recommended dosage for adults and children is 1 lozenge every 2 hours, after weakening of the inflammation processes, the interval between doses is 4 hours.

During the use of the drug, no adverse symptoms or side effects were observed.
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose of Decatilen are nausea / vomiting, in rare cases - ulcerative and necrotic lesions of the esophagus.
It is recommended to carry out symptomatic therapy, if necessary, you can use enveloping agents. Induce vomiting and gastric lavage should not be performed.
