Panzinorm
Panzinorm

Panzinorm (international non-proprietary name - multienzyme) is a combined polyenzyme agent used to correct digestive processes. One of the main actors in the digestion of food eaten is the pancreas, which, unfortunately, does not always work like a clock. In such cases, Panzinorm finds its application.

Release form

Panzinorm is available in two dosage forms:

  • in capsules of 7 pieces in one blister. Secondary packaging may contain 3, 8 or 12 such blisters, along with instructions for Panzinorm;
  • in tablets of 10 pieces in one blister. In a secondary cardboard package there can be 1 or 3 blisters together with a leaflet (instructions for Panzinorm).

As mentioned a little above, Panzinorm contains several enzymes: lipase, amylase and protease. Enzymatic (or enzymatic) activity of enzymes contained in one capsule or tablet is ranked according to such an indicator as the units of the European Pharmacopoeia (Units of Heb. F.). So, one capsule contains 10,000 units. Heb. F. lipase, in one tablet - 20,000. Hence the differences in the trade names of these drugs: Panzinorm 10,000 and Panzinorm forte 20,000.

Panzinorm is produced by the Slovenian pharmaceutical company KRKA.

Perhaps the readers will be interested in the fact that the pancreas of pigs and cattle are used as pharmaceutical raw materials for the production of Panzinorm.

Panzinorm's analogs

Panzinorm's analogs, as well as this drug itself, are, as they say, on hearing: these drugs are among the most popular in pharmacies and are often included in all kinds of charts of the best-selling drugs. Some of the names will no doubt be familiar to our readers:

  • Creon (Germany);
  • Mezim (Germany);
  • Gastenorm (India);
  • Hermital (Germany);
  • Enzistal (India);
  • Festal (India);
  • Penzital (India);
  • Micrasim (Russia);
  • Pangrol (Germany).

pharmachologic effect

The enzymes contained in Panzinorm are released from the capsule (tablet) in the small intestine, where they immediately begin active actions. The roles in the digestive process are clearly described between them. Thus, lipase is responsible for the digestion of fats, hydrolyzing them to glycerol and fatty acids, which ensures optimal absorption. Amylase breaks down carbohydrates and protease breaks down proteins. As a result, the digestibility of all types of food improves, the act of absorbing which appears now in a completely different light due to the improved quality of digestion.

Reviews about Panzinorm contain information on preventing steatorrhea (excessive excretion of fat with fecal masses), relieving pain in chronic pancreatitis.

Indications for the use of Panzinorm

In accordance with the instructions for Panzinorm and the reviews of specialists about it, this drug is used for:

  • Insufficient secretory activity of the pancreas. This happens with pathological conditions such as chronic pancreatitis or cystic fibrosis. Dysfunction of the pancreas develops due to the replacement of its glandular tissue with connective or scar tissue;
  • Chronic inflammatory diseases of organs directly involved in the digestion process: stomach, intestines, gallbladder, liver;
  • Post-traumatic (including after surgery or radiation) conditions of the digestive organs.

Brief instructions for the use of Panzinorm

Panzinorm forte
Panzinorm forte

In the case of using Panzinorm, according to indications, the principle of individual selection of an effective dosage of the drug is brought to the fore. General guidelines can be followed only at the initial stage of treatment, when it is recommended to start with a minimum dose of 1-2 capsules (tablets) 3 times a day. Then, if necessary, you can gradually increase the amount of drug taken.

Panzinorm is taken with the main meals. If for some reason you could not drink the medicine, then you can organize a small snack to take it. The capsule (tablet) is swallowed whole, without chewing, and washed down with a sufficient amount of water.

Doctors advise taking Panzinorm according to indications in minimal dosages, which is especially important for patients suffering from cystic fibrosis.

Even smaller doses "work" well in children than those indicated a few paragraphs above.

Contraindications

Reviews about Panzinorm and screening of the results of clinical trials led to the inclusion of the following contraindications in the instructions for Panzinorm:

  • hypersensitivity to pork proteins or to any other component of the drug;
  • acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) or exacerbated chronic pancreatitis;
  • children under 15 years of age with a history of cystic fibrosis.

As for women during pregnancy and lactating mothers, no reviews of Panzinorm and its use in relation to this target group of patients were recorded in the medical documentation. The same applies to children. The use of Panzinorm in these categories of persons is possible only with the permission of a doctor.

Side effect

When taking Panzinorm according to indications, there is a possibility of the following side effects:

  • allergic reactions manifested by a rash, itching and, in some cases, bronchospasm;
  • gastrointestinal symptoms: pain in the gastrointestinal region, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, irritation of the skin near the mouth or anus;
  • in children with cystic fibrosis while taking high doses of Panzinorm, fibrous (alternative name - fibrosing) colonopathy may develop, which is manifested by a narrowing of the lumen of the large intestine due to the proliferation of fibrous formations in its mucous membrane.

Special instructions for the use of Panzinorm

You need to know that while taking Panzinorm and folic acid, the effectiveness of the latter falls due to the inhibition of its absorption.

The ability of Panzinorm to prevent the absorption of iron under certain conditions has been established.

Panzinorm does not affect the severity of the reaction and concentration of attention.

Panzinorm 10,000 and Panzinorm forte 20,000 are sold from pharmacies without a doctor's prescription.

In case of overdoses with Panzinorm, symptoms of general intoxication of the body do not develop. In such cases, you should immediately discontinue the drug, rinse the stomach and conduct symptomatic therapy.

Panzinorm capsules and tablets are stable in the acidic environment of the stomach. The release of enzymes is carried out in the duodenum. If an abnormally acidic environment is created in the latter, which is not characteristic of this section of the gastrointestinal tract, then the release of enzymes may occur with a delay. For a general decrease in acidity, it is advisable to prescribe drugs from the group of proton pump inhibitors (Omeprazole, Rabeprazole, Lansoprazole), the reception of which will make it possible to manage with lower doses of Panzinorm.

Storage instructions for Panzinorm

Storage of Panzinorm should be carried out under normal conditions at a temperature not exceeding 30 C˚. The shelf life is 3 years.
