Lincomycin-AKOS is a bacteriostatic drug for external use.
Release form and composition
The drug is produced in the form of an ointment for external use, which is a white or white homogeneous mass with a yellowish tinge (10 g or 15 g each in aluminum tubes, one tube in a cardboard box and instructions for the use of Lincomycin-AKOS).
Composition per 100 g of ointment:
- active substance: lincomycin (in the form of lincomycin hydrochloride) - 2 g;
- auxiliary components: potato starch, medical petroleum jelly, zinc oxide, solid paraffin.
Lincomycin is an antibiotic produced by Streptomyces lincolniensis or other related actinomycetes. It acts bacteriostatically, suppressing protein synthesis in the bacterial cell due to reversible binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit and disrupting the formation of peptide bonds.
The drug is active against the following microorganisms: Streptococcus spp. (including Streptococcus pneumoniae), Bacillus anthracis, Staphylococcus spp., Haemophilus influenzae, Bacteroides spp., Clostridium tetany and Clostridium perfringens, Mycoplasma spp., Corynebacterium diphtheriae.
Strains of Staphylococcus spp. Resistant to tetracyclines, cephalosporins, penicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol are susceptible to lincomycin. Therefore, Lincomycin-AKOS can be considered as a reserve drug (only 30% of Staphylococcus spp. That are resistant to erythromycin have cross-resistance to lincomycin).
The drug has no effect on gram-negative strains of bacteria, Enterococcus spp. (including Enterococcus faecalis), protozoa, viruses and fungi; lincomycin is inferior in activity to erythromycin against Corynebacterium spp., Neisseria spp. and spore-forming anaerobes.
The optimal effect of Lincomycin-AKOS is manifested in an alkaline medium (from pH 8 to pH 8.5).
Lincomycin resistance develops slowly (according to the penicillin type). In large doses, the drug has a bactericidal effect.
Data on the pharmacokinetics of lincomycin when applied topically are not provided.
Indications for use
Lincomycin-AKOS ointment is used for purulent-inflammatory diseases of soft tissues and skin caused by microorganisms sensitive to lincomycin: furunculosis, erysipelas, pyoderma, phlegmon, etc.
The ointment is contraindicated in early infancy (up to one month), pregnant women (except in emergency cases, when the use of the drug is vital), as well as patients with hypersensitivity to the main or auxiliary components of the drug.
Lincomycin-AKOS is used with caution in fungal skin diseases.
Lincomycin-AKOS, instructions for use: method and dosage
The drug is intended for external use.

To date, no cases of drug overdose have been registered.
The ointment should be used with caution in patients with dermatomycosis.

During the period of breastfeeding, the ointment can be applied only to limited areas of the skin, in small doses and as short a course as possible.
Lincomycin-AKOS should not be used in infants (up to one month).
With erythromycin, antagonism of the action of lincomycin is manifested, and with aminoglycosides, synergism.
Pharmaceutically, lincomycin is incompatible with ampicillin, kanamycin and novobiocin.
Lincomycin-AKOS analogs are Lincomycin hydrochloride, LinkoVel, Lincomycin, KMP-Lincomycin, Ekolink, etc.
