Foliber allows you to overcome the metabolic blockage observed in embryos with neural tube defects. In such cases, vitamin B ₁₂ is a key substance involved in the metabolism of the amino acid methionine. Folic acid takes part in cell division, nucleic acid synthesis, and supports DNA synthesis in cells.

Pharmacokinetics

Folic acid is rapidly absorbed from the small intestine. The time to reach the maximum plasma concentration is 30-60 minutes.

Vitamin B ₁₂ interacts with substances that stimulate blood formation. The time to reach the maximum plasma concentration is 8–12 hours.

Both components undergo significant intestinal-hepatic recirculation, in addition, they largely bind to plasma proteins, the excess accumulates in the liver.

Indications for use

• prevention of folic acid and vitamin B ₁₂ deficiency in women of childbearing age when planning pregnancy (it is advisable to start taking the drug at least a month before the planned conception);
• prevention of fetal neural tube defects in pregnant women (I trimester).

Contraindications

The drug is contraindicated in case of increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.

The drug should be taken with caution in patients with galactosemia, lactase deficiency and glucose-galactose malabsorption, since 1 tablet contains 23 mg of lactose.
