Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Lavenum is a direct-acting anticoagulant for external use, included in the group of medium molecular weight heparins. It has antithrombotic, antiexudative and moderately anti-inflammatory effects. The drug prevents the formation of thrombin, inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase, increases the fibrinolytic properties of blood. Heparin, gradually released from the gel and penetrating the skin, exhibits an antithrombotic effect, reduces inflammation, enhances blood microcirculation, and activates tissue metabolism. As a result of the action of the active substance of the drug, the resorption of blood clots and hematomas is accelerated, and tissue edema decreases.
Pharmacokinetics
In the systemic circulation from the skin surface, heparin is absorbed in a small amount. The maximum concentration (Cmax) of the substance is reached 8 hours after the application. Heparin is excreted mainly by the kidneys, T 1/2 (half-life) is 12 hours.
Indications for use
- thrombophlebitis of superficial veins;
- bruises of joints and soft tissues;
- localized infiltrates and swelling of soft tissues;
- joint and tendon injuries;
