Release form and composition
Dosage form - powder for preparation of a solution for oral administration: white or white with a yellowish tinge (in a cardboard box 20 heat-sealable bags containing 2.2 g of powder each, and instructions for the use of Artrakam).
1 sachet with 2.2 g of powder contains:
- active substance: glucosamine sulfate sodium chloride (in terms of 100% substance) - 1.884 g (including 1.5 g of glucosamine sulfate);
- auxiliary components: citric acid, sorbitol.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Glucosamine sulfate has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, restores enzymatic processes in the cells of the articular cartilage and synovial membrane, increases the permeability of the joint capsule, stimulates the synthesis of proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid in the synovial fluid, and replenishes endogenous glucosamine deficiency.
The use of the drug stops the development of degenerative processes in the joints, restores their function and reduces pain, promotes sulfur fixation during the synthesis of chondroitinsulfuric acid.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, the absorption of glucosamine sulfate in the gastrointestinal tract is 90%, its biological activity is 26%, the half-life is 70 hours.
Indications for use
- osteochondrosis;
- osteoarthritis of the joints of the spine and peripheral joints.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- severe chronic renal failure;
- age up to 12 years;
- pregnancy;
- lactation period;
- established hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Relative (taking Artrakam requires special care and careful medical supervision):
- diabetes;
- bronchial asthma;
- intolerance to shellfish, shrimp and other seafood (there is a high risk of allergic reactions to the drug).
Artrakam, instructions for use: method and dosage
The solution prepared from powder Artrakam is intended for oral administration.
A single dose (contents of 1 sachet) is dissolved in 0.2 l of water. The prepared solution is taken once a day for 42 days.
It is allowed to carry out repeated therapy as directed by a doctor. At the same time, an interval of 2 months is observed between courses.
Side effects
Artrakam is characterized by good tolerance, however, in some cases, the development of allergic reactions in the form of itching and urticaria, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence and gastralgia is possible.
Overdose
To date, no cases of overdose have been reported.
Therapy: gastric lavage, symptomatic treatment.
