Release form and composition

The dosage form of Arthra MSM forte is film-coated tablets: from dark orange to light yellow-orange, biconvex oval; the presence of a specific odor is permissible (in a cardboard box 1 polyethylene bottle of 30, 60 or 100 pcs. or 2-4, 6, 9 or 10 blisters of 10 or 15 pcs. in each).

Active ingredients in 1 tablet:

• sodium hyaluronate (in terms of hyaluronic acid) - 10 mg;
• glucosamine hydrochloride - 500 mg;
• sodium chondroitin sulfate - 400 mg;

Artra MSM forte has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The components of the drug have the ability to inhibit the progression of osteoarthritis. Other effects include suppression of destruction and stimulation of regeneration of cartilage tissue, improvement of blood flow in the subchondral bone, and a decrease in the need for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

The main properties of the components of Arthra MSM forte:

• sodium chondroitin sulfate - takes part in the synthesis of connective tissue and is an additional substrate for the formation of a healthy cartilage matrix. Stimulates the synthesis of proteoglycans and collagen type II, the formation of hyaluronan, and also maintains the viscosity of the synovial fluid, protects hyaluronan from the damaging effects of free radicals and enzymatic breakdown (by suppressing the activity of hyaluronidase);
• glucosamine hydrochloride - takes part in the synthesis of connective tissue; with the introduction of exogenous glucosamine, the production of cartilage matrix is enhanced and nonspecific protection against chemical damage to the cartilage is provided;
• MSM is a sulfur-containing organic compound (natural sulfur content - 34%). It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. It is one of the key metabolites of dimethyl sulfoxide. It is part of many endogenous proteins (including connective tissue proteins - elastin, collagen, keratin), hormones and other metabolically active compounds;
• hyaluronic acid - is a polysaccharide of the group of acidic glycosaminoglycans, is one of the important components of the synovial fluid and determines its viscoelastic properties. The substance forms a covering layer on the entire inner surface, which helps to protect the articular cartilage and synovial membrane from mechanical damage, as well as from inflammation factors and free radicals.

Pharmacokinetics

When taken orally, the bioavailability of glucosamine is 25% (first pass effect through the liver).

Plasma concentration of chondroitin sulfate with a single oral dose of 800 mg (or 2 times a day for 400 mg) increases sharply for 24 hours. The absolute bioavailability is 12%. As high molecular weight and low molecular weight derivatives, approximately 10 and 20% of the dose taken, respectively, is absorbed.

In experimental models with oral administration, a certain bioavailability of hyaluronic acid was noted.

Chondroitin sulfate is distributed in tissues. Its highest concentrations are found in the articular cartilage, kidneys and liver. Approximately 30% of the dose taken persists for a long time in muscle and bone tissue.

Glucosamine is excreted mainly unchanged by the kidneys; partly through the intestines.

Chondroitin sulfate is metabolized by desulfurization. It is excreted in the urine. T _1/2 (half-life) - more than 5 hours.

Side effects

Possible side reactions: disturbances from the digestive system (in the form of epigastric pain, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting), allergic reactions.

Overdose
