Aluminosilicate
Aluminosilicate belongs to the group of silicates containing silicon and aluminum. There are natural and synthetic aluminosilicates. Natural species are minerals in the earth's crust, while synthetic aluminosilicates are produced chemically by hydrothermal synthesis.
Obtaining aluminosilicate and its properties
Aluminosilicate has the form of a fine powder of a yellowish-white hue, odorless, insoluble in water, but decomposes when interacting with hydrofluoric acid.
Aluminosilicates are feldspars (albite, orthoclase, etc.), mica and clay-type minerals.
Aluminosilicates are widely used in the food industry, where their properties are most effectively manifested, aimed at preventing rolling and clumping of food products and ingredients. Also, this compound has the properties of clarification and separation of bulk products.
Aluminosilicate has a characteristic earthy flavor, has no impurities and can be combined with other types of silicates.
Application of aluminosilicate
In the food industry, aluminosilicate is labeled as a food additive E 559 and is used in dry products, powders and mixtures.
Aluminosilicate is used in the manufacture of dry dairy products (milk, cream, etc.), as well as granulated sugar, powdered sugar, edible salt, spices and seasonings. This silicate can be part of a salt substitute with properties similar to a natural product.
This emulsifier is added to the composition of cheeses, as well as to cheese semi-finished products, which are wrapped in foil in cut form.
In accordance with technological instructions and sanitary and epidemiological standards, food additive E 559 can be included in dietary supplements, sugar tablets, confectionery and canned products.
Aluminosilicates are used in wine-making, treacle production, butter-making, fruit juice and starch production.
In Europe, aluminosilicates are used for medical and cosmetic purposes. They are added to ointments and medicinal gels, white clay, medicines and creams. Aluminosilicate can be found in animal and poultry feed and vitamin supplements.
As an aid, these silicates are used in the manufacture of packages, bags and paper products.
Contraindications and restrictions on use
Aluminosilicates must be consumed in strictly limited quantities, as they can cause serious harm to human health. The use of this additive in the food industry is permitted in many European countries, including England, Russia, France, Ukraine, etc.
