Erespal is a drug belonging to the H1 group of antihistamines.

Pharmacological action of Erespal

Erespal is a remedy with antispasmodic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.

The anti-inflammatory effect of the drug is due to the activity of fenspiride contained in its composition, which helps to reduce the production of certain biologically active substances (primarily cytokines, free radicals and a number of others) that play a role in the development of bronchospasm and inflammation. Fenspiride also blocks alpha-adrenergic receptors, when stimulated, the secretion of bronchial glands increases. In general, the effects of fenspiride on the body can be described as follows: it prevents the development of inflammation and obstruction of the bronchi, promotes spasmolytic activity.

Release form

According to the instructions for Erespal, there are currently two forms of drug release:

  • round white tablets. The tablets have a biconvex shape and are coated. The content of the active substance (fenspiride hydrochloride) is 80 mg. One package contains 30 pieces;
  • clear syrup with an orange color. The formation of a precipitate is acceptable, which disappears after shaking. The syrup volume is 150 ml. It is packed in dark plastic bottles.

Indications for use of Erespal

Numerous reviews about Erespal noted the effectiveness of the drug in the fight against various diseases of the lower and upper respiratory tract. First of all, Erespal is effective for the following diseases:

  • with rhinopharyngitis and laryngitis;
  • with otitis media and sinusitis of various origins (including seasonal allergic and allergic, which is of a permanent nature);
  • with rhinotracheobronchitis;
  • with bronchitis;
  • with isolated or complicated bronchial asthma as maintenance therapy;
  • with respiratory events accompanying measles, influenza, whooping cough.

Contraindications

The instruction for Erespal warns of the presence of contraindications to the drug. Among them:

  • age less than 14 years (in this case, syrup is recommended);
  • hypersensitivity to the components of Erespal. It should be noted that allergies are most often caused by fenspiride, sunset yellow dye CFC, propyl and methyl parabens.

Instructions for the use of Erespal

Erespal must be taken before meals, shaking thoroughly. The dosage of the drug depends on the age of the patient.

So, adults are prescribed 1 tablet of Erespal (which corresponds to 80 mg of fenspiride) 2 to 3 times a day. Erespal in the form of a syrup is taken in an amount of 3 to 6 tablespoons per day, the syrup content is from 45 to 90 ml. It must also be borne in mind that one tablespoon of syrup contains 9 g of sucrose and up to 30 mg of fenspiride.

Erespal in the form of tablets is not recommended for children; the drug should be taken in syrup form.

For adolescents and children under 14 years of age, the dosage is calculated as follows: 4 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight per day.

Babies from birth to 2 years old (if their weight does not exceed 10 kg) are prescribed from 2 to 4 teaspoons of syrup (about 10-20 ml) per day. The drug can be added to the formula bottle. It is important to consider that one teaspoon contains 3 g of sucrose and 10 mg of the active substance - fenspiride.

As a rule, the course of treatment according to the instructions for Erespal does not exceed 20-30 days. If you need to repeat the course of treatment, you should consult your doctor.
