Composition and form of release of Elidel
According to the instructions, Elidel is produced in the form of a 1% cream in tubes of 15, 30 and 100 g. One gram of Elidel contains 0.01 g of pimecrolimus - the active ingredient of the cream. In addition, the cream contains the following additional ingredients: oleic alcohol, stearyl alcohol, propylene glucol, triglycerides, monoglycerides, benzyl alcohol, diglycerides, cetostearyl sodium sulfate, sodium hydroxide, citric acid, purified water.
pharmachologic effect
The cream has the ability to selectively suppress the synthesis and release from tissues of those components that are the main mediators of inflammatory reactions - mediators of mast cells and T-lymphocytes.
Many reviews of Elidel say that with regular use, the drug effectively relieves itching, reduces inflammation and the severity of tissue damage, without causing an increase in sensitivity, atrophy and skin irritation.
The uniqueness of the pharmacological action of Elidel cream consists in a combination of anti-inflammatory action, selective for the skin, with a low ability of a systemic effect on the immune system.
Some reviews about Elidel indicate that the drug, with prolonged use, significantly reduces the frequency of sudden exacerbations of atopic dermatitis.
Indications for the use of Elidel
According to the instructions, the use of Elidel or Elidel analogues is indicated for short-term treatment or long-term therapy of symptoms and manifestations of atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults, adolescents and children aged three months.
Instructions for use
According to the instructions Elidel or Elidel analogues should be used immediately in treatment immediately after the first manifestations of eczema appear.
Elidel should be applied in a thin layer morning and evening to the affected skin areas of any part of the body. After application, the cream must be gently rubbed into the skin until completely absorbed. According to the instructions, it is not recommended to apply a bandage to the cream. During treatment, patients should minimize natural or artificial sun exposure to the skin.
Elidel is used as long as the symptoms of eczema persist. In the future, the cream is recommended to be used at the first signs of a relapse of the disease.
If the severity of the symptoms of the disease persists six weeks after the application of Elidel, it is necessary to undergo a second examination to confirm the diagnosis of eczema (atopic dermatitis).
