Release form and composition

Ekofemin dosage form - vaginal capsules: transparent, hard gelatinous, size No. 0; the contents of the capsules are white with a gray tint or white powder with beige inclusions [6 or 12 pcs. in an aluminum case with a polyethylene stopper; each case with 6 or 12 applicators, respectively (or without them) in a cardboard box].

Live lactobacilli in the Ekofemin capsules exhibit antagonistic activity against a wide range of pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms (including staphylococci, Proteus, enteropathogenic Escherichia coli).

The suppression of the pathogenic microflora occurs through the production of lactic acid bacteria, hydrolytic enzymes, acidophilus, and hydrogen peroxide included in the Ekofemin capsules during the life process. Also, lactobacilli take part in the biotransformation of the glycogen of the vaginal epithelium to the formation of lactic acid, which allows maintaining the pH of the vagina at the level of 3.8-4.2. The presence of lactic acid in high concentration provides unfavorable conditions for the vital activity of opportunistic and acid-sensitive opportunistic and pathogenic bacteria.

An intimate gel containing lactic acid, eliminating dry mucous membranes and helping to moisturize the vagina, prevents inflammation and microtrauma in this area, and provides comfort throughout the day. Also, this tool can be used as a lubricant.

Thanks to lactic acid, which is part of the soap and wipes, their pH-values are 4 and 4.5, respectively, which makes it possible to use these funds in the intimate area with extremely sensitive mucous membranes. The drugs eliminate discomfort and help solve problems associated with an imbalance of microflora in the vaginal area. Soap and napkins can be used for intimate hygiene in the presence of microtrauma and inflammation in order to naturally protect the mucous membranes.

Indications for use

Vaginal capsules

• non-specific inflammatory processes of the vagina and vaginal dysbiosis (prevention / treatment);
• violations of the microflora of the vagina (in order to recover), including after local and systemic antibiotic therapy;
• diseases caused by an imbalance in the vaginal microflora (prevention / treatment), including as a drug for the second stage of therapy for non-specific vulvovaginitis, bacterial vaginosis, hormone-dependent colpitis;
• postoperative infectious complications (for prevention), preparation for diagnostic procedures, planned gynecological operations;
• the upward development of infections during childbirth during prenatal preparation (for the purpose of prevention).

Gel

Ecofemin gel is recommended for use in case of feeling of dryness in the intimate area caused by a violation of the vaginal microflora, menopause, postpartum rehabilitation or the use of hormonal contraceptives.

Soap and napkins

Soap and wet wipes are used for delicate care of intimate areas (including with very high sensitivity of mucous membranes), their daily use is allowed. Contraindications

Vaginal capsules

Ekofemin capsules are used intravaginally.

During therapy, 1 vaginal capsule is used 2 times a day for 6 days. By appointment of the attending physician, if necessary, it is possible to carry out a second course.

To prevent diseases of the vagina, 1 capsule is administered once a day at night for 3-7 days. Prevention and therapy with the drug is recommended before or immediately after menstruation.

When using capsules without an applicator, they should be inserted as deep as possible into the vagina using a finger. If there is an applicator, the capsule must be placed on its tip and then inserted as deeply into the vagina as possible. After that, pushing up the inner tube of the applicator, it should be removed and discarded.

Gel
