In blisters of 10 tablets.

The analogue of Chlorprothixene is the drug Truxal.

Pharmacological action of Chlorprothixene

The use of Chlorprothixene has an antipsychotic effect on the body, due to the blocking effect on dopamine receptors. The blockade of these receptors also has an analgesic and antiemetic effect.

According to the instructions, Chlorprothixene blocks H1-histamine receptors, α1 - adrenergic receptors, 5-HT2 - receptors, as a result of which the drug has a hypotensive, adrenergic blocking and antihistamine effect.

Indications for the use of Chlorprothixene

According to the instructions, Chlorprothixene has a fairly wide range of indications, including the following:

• behavior disorder in children;

• insomnia;

• psychoses, including manic states and schizophrenia, proceeding with anxiety, agitation and psychomotor agitation;

• psychosomatic disorders, neuroses, depressive conditions;

• irritability, hyperactivity, confusion, excitement in the elderly;

• pain (as part of combination therapy);

• hangover withdrawal syndrome with drug addiction and alcoholism.

• pheochromocytoma;

• coma;

• diseases of the hematopoietic organs;

Dosing and Administration of Chlorprothixene

In psychosis, manic states and schizophrenia, the initial dosage of the drug or analogue of Chlorprothixene is 50-100 mg per day with a gradual increase in the dosage to 300 mg per day. In especially severe cases, it is allowed to increase the dosage to 1200 mg per day. The daily dosage is usually divided into three doses. It is recommended to take most of the dose in the evening, which is associated with the pronounced sedative effect of the drug. The maintenance dosage is 100-200 mg per day.

With a hangover withdrawal syndrome, the use of Chlorprothixene is 500 mg, divided into two or three doses. Usually the duration of treatment is one week. After the symptoms of withdrawal symptoms disappear, it is recommended to gradually reduce the dosage to a maintenance one - 15-45 mg per day, which reduces the risk of developing another binge and stabilizes the general condition of the body.

For elderly patients with irritability, hyperactivity, confusion and nervous excitement, the initial dosage is 15-90 mg per day, divided into three doses.

Children are prescribed Chlorprothixene according to the instructions for correcting behavior disorders. The dosage is calculated on the basis of 0.5-2 mg per kg of body weight.

For psychosomatic disorders and depressive conditions, the drug is usually taken as part of a combination therapy. The dosage in this case, as a rule, is up to 90 mg per day, divided into two or three doses.

Since the drug or analogue of Chlorprothixene does not cause drug dependence and addiction, it can be used for a long period of time.

For insomnia, the drug is taken at a dosage of 15-30 mg one hour before bedtime.

Since Chlorprothixene has analgesic properties, it can be used for pain at the same time as other analgesics. Prescribed, as a rule, from 15 to 300 mg per day.
