Form of release and composition
Dosage forms:
- ointment for rectal and external use: a homogeneous mass, from light brown to yellowish, with a smell characteristic of phenol (25 g each in an aluminum tube, in a cardboard box 1 tube complete with an applicator);
- rectal suppositories: torpedo-shaped, from white to yellowish, with a specific smell of phenol (5 pcs. in a blister, 2 blisters in a cardboard box).
1 g of ointment contains:
- active ingredients: inactivated microbial cells of Escherichia coli - 500 million, hydrocortisone - 2.5 mg;
- auxiliary components: petroleum jelly, lanolin, phenol as a preservative.
1 suppository contains:
- active ingredients: inactivated microbial cells of Escherichia coli - 1000 million, hydrocortisone - 5 mg;
- auxiliary components: disodium edetate, solid fat, acetylcysteine, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, alpha-tocopherol, phenol (preservative).
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Posterisan Forte is a combined drug that has a local anti-inflammatory and immunostimulating effect.
When the mucous membrane of the rectum and the skin of the anogenital area comes into contact with the antigens of the cell walls and the metabolic products of Escherichia coli, an increase in the local resistance of tissues to the influence of pathogenic microflora occurs. The drug restores the permeability and tone of blood vessels, promotes the regeneration of damaged tissues, reduces exudation during inflammation, stimulates nonspecific factors and the T-system of immunity, phagocytic activity of leukocytes, cells of the reticuloendothelial system.
The local anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect of Posterisan Forte provides the presence of hydrocortisone in the composition, which reduces swelling, hyperemia and itching after application to the affected area of the body.
Indications for use
- persistent hemorrhoids;
- anal fissure;
- anal itching, including with resistance to the action of other drugs;
- anopapillitis.
In addition, the ointment is prescribed for the treatment of perianal dermatitis.
Contraindications
- fungal infections at the site of treatment;
- syphilis, gonorrhea, tuberculosis and other bacterial infections in the treatment area;
- childhood;
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Ointment for rectal and external use
Ointment Posterisan Forte is used by introducing it into the anal canal (using the applicator included in the kit) and applying a thin layer to the affected area of the mucous membrane and skin.
The recommended mode of the procedures: in the morning, in the evening and after each act of defecation for 14-21 days.
Rectal suppositories
Suppositories are used by insertion into the anus.
Recommended dosage: 1 pc. 2 times a day (morning and evening), in addition, 1 pc. after each bowel movement. The duration of the course of treatment is from 14 to 21 days.
Side effects
With individual intolerance to phenol, allergic reactions may occur.
Overdose
Overdose symptoms have not been established.

In chronic dermatitis, it is recommended to prolong the use of Posterisan Forte ointment for 1–2 weeks after the disappearance of the clinical manifestations of the disease.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
There is no information on the penetration of hydrocortisone through the placental barrier, excretion in breast milk, or the damaging effect of Posterisan forte on the fetus.
Nevertheless, the use of the drug during gestation and lactation is possible only as directed by a doctor.
Drug interactions
With the simultaneous use of Posterisan Forte with drugs containing glucocorticosteroids (in the form of tablets, drops or solutions for injections), mutual enhancement of action or side effects is possible.
