Component properties
Urodan contains bearberry leaves (in the form of a dry highly concentrated standardized extract), which are a natural antiseptic. The dietary supplement has a disinfectant, diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect. Due to the content of arbutin and tannins in a significant amount, Urodan cleanses the urinary tract from inflammation products and bacterial flora. Antimicrobial properties are due to the content of arbutin glycoside, which is broken down into glucose and free hydroquinone.
The antiseptic properties of dietary supplements are due to the local irritant and antimicrobial action of hydroquinone. When it is excreted through the kidneys, the renal tissue is irritated, and urination also increases. Hydroquinone increases the activity of redox reactions, has a significant effect on oxygen uptake by tissues, metabolism, blood levels of potassium, glutathione, glucose, and reduces diabetic ketoacidosis.
The therapeutic effect is enhanced by the specific action of hydrolysis products and tannins. Tannins in low concentrations block the growth of most microorganisms, in high concentrations they act as antibacterial agents, leading to the death of microbes.
Tartaric acid is found in pineapples, grape berries, sorrel and some other plants and fruits.
