Have it all and not get better? Impossible! Chiseled shapes require severe torture, refusal of favorite dishes, right?

But with the American Diet, this is not necessary. It is allowed to eat anything, only two strict restrictions are introduced: the main thing is not to eat anything after 17.00; complete freedom in the choice of products is allowed only for breakfast, and the amount of fatty foods must be significantly reduced.

The American Diet does not promise short term weight loss, but there is no fast weight loss on any effective long term diet. That is, the "American Diet" is rather a principle according to which the amount of food eaten is regulated according to personal needs. However, your daily diet should include:

  • at least 400 g of vegetables;
  • not less than 300 g of fruit;
  • 50 g of bread;
  • at least 100 g of lean meat;
  • 250 g dairy products (no sweeteners and minimal fat).

The result of the diet is directly determined by the type of food and their quantity in the menu.

There are no strict prohibitions, so it is difficult to say how many kilograms of excess weight you can get rid of. It all depends on the starting weight, the duration of the diet and the degree of self-control.

The Merits of the American Diet

The advantage of the American Diet is that you can eat your favorite foods and still lose weight. It makes sense to stick to this food system for a long time, ideally, all your life.

The diet has few restrictions, it is not rigid, so the likelihood of breakdowns is low. When favorite foods are allowed, there is no reason to overeat.

The lack of a clear menu discourages, leads to violations, breakdowns and lack of results.

In the diet, you should limit the amount of fatty and other non-dietary foods, such as sausages, fast food.

In the American Diet, menus are made independently, based on the rule "The more excess weight, the more ascetic the dishes."

Approximate diet for a week:

First day

Breakfast: oatmeal in milk with honey and fruit, yogurt, coffee or tea.

Lunch: fish (boiled or grilled), celery with lemon juice, tea or coffee with milk.

Dinner: finely chopped boiled meat with the addition of yolk and a small amount of onions, a slice of whole grain bread, an apple, an orange, a glass of low-fat milk.

Second day

Breakfast: fruit salad, whole grain bun with a piece of salted red fish, tea or coffee.

Lunch: fried calf liver with stewed spinach, boiled potatoes, tea or coffee.

Dinner: salad of carrots, apples, cabbage, beets with a spoonful of vegetable oil, a slice of whole grain bread, a slice of ham, a soft-boiled egg, a glass of kefir.

Third day

Breakfast: cheesecakes with sour cream or jam, fruit, coffee or tea.

Lunch: lean fried meat, green salad with lemon juice, tomato juice, fruit (orange, grapefruit or apple).

Dinner: 2 boiled eggs, a glass of plain yogurt, 3-4 small tomatoes, a crouton or a slice of bread, a pear or an apple.

Fourth day

Breakfast: yoghurt with fruit or jam, croutons with butter, coffee or tea.

Lunch: Roasted or boiled chicken, coleslaw, a slice of whole grain bread, coffee or tea.

Dinner: cottage cheese with green onions or bell peppers, radishes, a slice of bread, a glass of milk.

The fifth day

Breakfast: cottage cheese casserole with sour cream, coffee or tea, berries.

Lunch: grated carrots with boiled meat, jacket potatoes, tea or coffee.

Dinner: scrambled eggs with vegetables, a salad of tomatoes and green onions with lemon juice, an apple.

Sixth day

Breakfast: baked apple, toast with tomato, cheese and ham, tea or coffee.

Lunch: boiled fish with green salad dressed with lemon juice, a slice of whole grain bread, freshly squeezed orange juice.

Dinner: boiled beef with grated horseradish, green salad, apple, kefir.

Seventh day

Breakfast: crispbreads with fish, cream cheese and green salad. Freshly squeezed apple or grapefruit juice.

Lunch: boiled chicken with rice, vegetable salad, a slice of bread or toast, citrus fruit, coffee or tea.

Dinner: a glass of yogurt, small cutlets, a slice of bread, an apple.

While adhering to the American Diet, make sure that the body does not suffer from a lack of fluids, vitamins and minerals. For this, it is recommended to additionally take multivitamins or vitamin-mineral complexes.

Useful Tips

Tip 1. The "American Diet" gives almost complete freedom in the choice of food, but it should not be overused. The more excess weight, the more severe the restrictions on the menu should be. But if you want something sweet, it is better to allow yourself to have it for breakfast, otherwise this desire will haunt during the day, and then a breakdown is possible.

Tip 2. It is worth two or three days a week to have a more plentiful breakfast than usual - this will help to maintain a diet on other days, adhering to strict rules.
