Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Solkovagin is a combined local drug intended for the treatment of benign lesions of the surface tissues of the cervix.

During the use of the drug, there is an unequal effect on different types of cervical epithelium. When the solution is applied to the area of ectopic columnar epithelium (transformation zone and cervical ectopia) and subepithelial stroma (cervical erosion), their immediate devitalization and fixation is observed. In this case, the multilayer cell structures of the squamous epithelium of the vaginal part of the cervix and the vaginal mucosa, which are more resistant to the drug, are practically not damaged.

The therapeutic effect in the form of devitalization and fixation of the altered tissue develops within a few minutes and is accompanied by the appearance of a gray or yellowish-white tissue. After application of the solution, the necrotic (devitalized) epithelium remains in place in the initial phase. It forms a protective layer, which, due to the spontaneous growth of new squamous epithelial cells under it, exfoliates after a few days. In this regard, it is impossible to classify the action of Solkovagin as a cauterizing effect of acids in the usual view.

Pharmacokinetics

Solkovagin has an effect only at the site of application. During therapy, systemic absorption of active ingredients is not observed.

Indications for use

The use of Solkovagin is indicated for the treatment of benign lesions of the surface tissues of the cervix:

  • postoperative granulomas;
  • cervical ectopia;
  • nabotovy cysts (after opening);
  • transformation zone;
  • polyps of the cervical canal (in the absence of endometrial diseases).

Contraindications

  • cellular dysplasia;
  • malignant changes in the epithelium of the cervix (suspected malignancy);
  • period of pregnancy;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Solkovagin, instructions for use: method and dosage

Solkovagin solution is intended only for processing the surface tissues of the cervix. The procedure should be performed by a gynecologist using a colposcope. Only the affected area should be treated, preventing the drug from getting on the vaginal epithelium or the skin of the external genital organs.

A single therapeutic dose corresponds to the contents of 1 bottle and is designed for two procedures. The procedure is carried out using a cotton swab fixed to a wooden rod.

The application of the solution is indicated after removing vaginal mucus with a cotton swab and treating the affected area with a 3% solution of acetic acid. Having clearly defined the boundaries of the lesion visually, the doctor must treat the affected area with a solution. To enhance the therapeutic effect, after 1-2 minutes, the treatment with the solution should be repeated.

The first control examination is carried out 10 days after application of the solution. Then, the doctor should schedule the patient for a second examination after 14 days, the third follow-up examination is carried out after the next 14 days.

If, according to the results of the examination, there is no clinical effect, the patient must be prescribed re-use of the drug, followed by follow-up examinations according to the above scheme.

Side effects

The development of side effects against the background of the use of the drug Solkovagin has not been established.

Overdose

The main symptoms: burns at the site of application, which can cause pathological changes in the epithelium of the cervix.

Therapy: symptomatic.

special instructions

The treatment is painless and does not cause scarring or deformation of the cervical canal. Excessive use of the drug can cause tissue burns, which leads to pathological changes in the epithelium of the cervix.

The use of the solution is carried out on an outpatient basis and does not restrict patients in terms of taking water procedures or sexual intercourse.

Care is required during the procedure to prevent the solution from getting on the vaginal epithelium or the skin of the external genital organs. Do not allow the drug to come into contact with clothing, any part of the skin of the body, and especially with the mucous membrane of the eyes. In case of accidental contact, the area should be immediately rinsed abundantly with water and, if possible, treated with a 1% sodium bicarbonate solution, which neutralizes the drug.

In order to prevent contact of the solution with surrounding objects, used cotton swabs should be placed in the bottle, breaking the rod, close the bottle with an additional stopper and only then lower it into the trash can.
