Pharmacodynamics
The drug demonstrates the ability to specifically lyse (dissolve the cell wall) Proteus bacteria.
Indications for use
Protein bacteriophage is recommended for the prevention and treatment as part of the complex therapy of enteral and pyoinflammatory diseases excited by the bacteria P. mirabilis and P. vulgaris:
- suppuration of wounds, abscess, burns, phlegmon, carbuncles, boils, panaritiums, hydradenitis, paraproctitis, bursitis, mastitis, osteomyelitis and other surgical infections;
- inflammation of the middle ear, sinuses, laryngitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, pleurisy and other lesions of the lungs, respiratory tract and ENT organs;
- cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, endometritis, colpitis, salpingo-oophoritis and other urogenital infections;
- generalized septic diseases;
- intestinal dysbiosis, enteric infections, including gastroenterocolitis and cholecystitis;
- purulent-inflammatory diseases of newborns, such as pyoderma, omphalitis, conjunctivitis, sepsis, etc.;
- other diseases caused by Proteus bacteria.
For prophylaxis, Protein Bacteriophage solution is used to treat wounds (freshly infected and postoperative), as well as for epidemic indications to prevent nosocomial infections.
To increase the effect of drug therapy, a preliminary determination of the phagosensitivity of the pathogen is of great importance.
Contraindications
Contraindication for the use of Protein Bacteriophage is the presence of hypersensitivity to its components.
Protein bacteriophage, instructions for use: method and dosage
Protein Bacteriophage solution is used for oral administration, rectal administration, in the form of applications, irrigation, for introduction into the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, in the vagina, uterus, wounds and drained cavities.
The recommended single doses of Protein Bacteriophage, taking into account the patient's age, for oral administration / rectal administration (using an enema):
- 0-6 months: 5 ml / 5-10 ml;
- 6-12 months: 10 ml / 10-20 ml;
- from 1 to 3 years: 15 ml / 20-30 ml;
- from 3 to 8 years old: 15–20 ml / 30–40 ml;
- 8 years and older: 20-30 ml / 40-50 ml.
Against the background of purulent-inflammatory diseases with localized lesions, the drug is indicated to be used simultaneously orally and locally, the course of therapy in this case depends on clinical indications and can be 7–20 days.
The wound must be thoroughly washed with a sterile solution of sodium chloride 0.9%, if it was treated with chemical antiseptics before the appointment of the bacteriophage.
Recommended methods of application and doses of Protein Bacteriophage, depending on the location of the focus of infection:
- cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis: administered orally; if the cavity of the renal pelvis or bladder is drained, the solution is injected 1-2 times a day using a nephrostomy or cystostomy at a dose of 5–7 ml into the renal pelvis and at a dose of 20–50 ml into the bladder;
- infectious lesions of the articular, pleural or other limited cavities: injections are carried out in a dose of up to 100 ml and a capillary drainage is left, through which the solution is re-injected over several days;
- surgical infections: used in the form of lotions, irrigation and tamponing at a dose of up to 200 ml, taking into account the size of the affected area; with an abscess after opening the cavity and removing its purulent contents Protein bacteriophage is injected by puncture in a volume less than the amount of removed pus; in the treatment of osteomyelitis after surgical treatment of the wound, a solution is poured into it in a dose of 10–20 ml;
- diseases of the ear, throat, nose of a purulent-inflammatory nature: prescribed 1-3 times a day at a dose of 2-10 ml; used in the form of instillations, rinsing, rinsing and injections impregnated with the drug turunda, laying them for 1 hour;
- enteric infections, intestinal dysbiosis: taken orally 3 times a day 1 hour before meals for 7-20 days in accordance with clinical indications; oral administration of Protein Bacteriophage is allowed 2 times a day in combination with 1 rectal administration of bacteriophage after emptying the intestines in the form of an enema in a single age dose;

- treatment of omphalitis, pyoderma, infected wounds: use daily 2 times a day in the form of applications - a gauze napkin soaked in solution is applied to the affected area or umbilical wound;
- treatment of enterocolitis, sepsis of newborns (including premature infants): the drug is prescribed 2-3 times a day through a gas tube or catheter (in the form of high enemas) in a dose of 5-10 ml; oral administration is also possible in the absence of regurgitation and vomiting, in this case the drug is mixed with breast milk; the combined administration of a bacteriophage can also be prescribed - orally and rectally (in the form of high enemas), the course of therapy is from 5 to 15 days; against the background of a recurrent course of the disease, at the discretion of the doctor, it is allowed to reuse Proteus Bacteriophage;
- prevention of enterocolitis and sepsis in case of intrauterine infection or the threat of nosocomial infection in newborns: use 2 times a day in the form of enemas for 5-7 days.
